Another Snow Storm in the Northeast

I know, I was worried about the animals. At least the cats can roll up on a blanket but "Cosmo" (the cockatiel) has a blanket covering the cage every night so I hope he is okay.

@JudyEv I know. I remember once when I was a teenager, my mother had one of my birds by an open door on the stove to keep it warm. The bird was very sick and in those days I never heard of a bird going to a vet. I was still in school then.

@ramapo17 That's about as much as you could do for a bird.

My daughter said her heat came back on around 5pm tonight. It was almost 24 hours without power.

@Courtlynn That is a weird way to get heat.

They are lucky. Maybe there people have some generators. We did when we lived in New Jersey and we used many times a year.

I spoke to her about an hour ago and she said they just got the power on but were still frozen because it was out so long.

It finally came on a couple of hours ago.

You are right, my daughter lives in New Jersey. When my husband and I were up there for Christmas we had very cold weather, zero degrees to 15 for many days. It was so bad and I realized then why I moved to Florida.

@ramapo17 Summers in Texas can be pretty bad, but the rest of the year makes up for them. Too bad the summers are known to last 6 months

@ElicBxn It sounds like the weather we have in south Florida. It gets so hot I stay in a lot in the summer. The humidity is the worst. I shower and change my clothes a few times a day.

I always loved the winters in northeast New Jersey and the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. I was always outside for all winter sports from the time I was 5 until in my 60's. My grandson started skiing when he was 4 and I would go to watch him.

I just heard about the new storm aimed at the northeast. My grandson was home from school today and I am sure he is going to be out again this week. He was out today playing hockey which he loves.

@DeborahDiane Do the ones north of Manhattan live in Long Island?

@ramapo17 - I have grandsons in the Northeast, too ... particularly one who lives just north of Manhattan. The others live in Delaware, and I think this storm may miss them. I hope this front is not as fierce as the last one.

It did come back on after day and a half but now they are bracing for another big snow storm,.

@kobesbuddy The heat was turned on late last night which was a good thing as I think the bird would not have made it. The cats always crawl up under the bed covers. My daughter and grandson would also get under a lot of covers and wear jackets. They are use to visiting us in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania and some times while they were there we would lose power in a big storm. My husband and I were always prepared for any kind of emergencies and we had an RV in the driveway where we could stay in there with heat on.

You were lucky. My daughter and grandson live on the border of the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. It always gets bad up there.

@ramapo17 Yes, the high elevations can really affect the weather. I remember getting stuck in traffic there coming home from college. Major snow storm
