The weather is really bad in the northeast and so many other places of the country. My daughter and 17 year old grandson live in an apartment in New Jersey and they lost power last night and it is still not on. No electricity either. Hopefully they will get it on as she said the temperature was in the 50's. They also have two cats and a cockatiel.

@JudyEv I know. I remember once when I was a teenager, my mother had one of my birds by an open door on the stove to keep it warm. The bird was very sick and in those days I never heard of a bird going to a vet. I was still in school then.

I hope their power is back soon. Its a very cold 41 night here in MA. And we dont have our heat thanks to our neighbors blasting theirs, but least we have our power and tons of blankets.

That’s really terrible. My family lives in Newark. No power interruption there so far.

The east coast is getting hit hard this winter.

It is hard when the weather gets bad. My mom told dad that she wasn’t going to move to Texas unless he got her air conditioning. But when we got older she was glad to not have to put up with New Jersey winters. Personally, I’m glad I don’t have to put up with them either.

I always loved the winters in northeast New Jersey and the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. I was always outside for all winter sports from the time I was 5 until in my 60's. My grandson started skiing when he was 4 and I would go to watch him.

@ramapo17 - I saw on the news that they are rushing to get electricity back on, before another big weather front hits the Northeast on Wednesday. They just can't catch a break!

@DeborahDiane Do the ones north of Manhattan live in Long Island?

@ramapo17 - I have grandsons in the Northeast, too ... particularly one who lives just north of Manhattan. The others live in Delaware, and I think this storm may miss them. I hope this front is not as fierce as the last one.

@kobesbuddy The heat was turned on late last night which was a good thing as I think the bird would not have made it. The cats always crawl up under the bed covers. My daughter and grandson would also get under a lot of covers and wear jackets. They are use to visiting us in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania and some times while they were there we would lose power in a big storm.
My husband and I were always prepared for any kind of emergencies and we had an RV in the driveway where we could stay in there with heat on.

Yes Nancy. We had a Nor'easter pass through with high winds and rain. We had a flood watch where I live through Sunday. No power problems thank goodness.

@ramapo17 Yes, the high elevations can really affect the weather. I remember getting stuck in traffic there coming home from college. Major snow storm
