Out for a Sunday stroll

These hens would prefer to not hear how delicious fried chicken dinner is on a Sunday afternoon. They'd prefer to find some bugs or worms and not hear humans say silly things about drumsticks or chicken breasts. They are just minding their own henny penny business, enjoying a mild March afternoon.

They don't want to think about KFC.

@JohnRoberts I'm sure you are right. I can see the hens with little protest signs.

I would not be able to talk to them then as I love talking about how delicious chicken is!

@cintol The afternoon the little neighbor dogs went after the hens made me very upset. Those dogs thought chicken was tasty, too. The hens didn't know what to do so they stuffed their heads into the fence wire, thinking in a panicked way that head cramming would save them. Poor freaked out hens.

@cintol I live in the Eastern part of Washington state. Little money around here for such things as properly caring for animals from such persons as the sheriff's department. They do have a yard and a fence and should be doing more than they are. The animal's situation over there is a grievious mess.

@sallypup I can imagine how scared they were with those dogs coming at them, I would have been angry. Is there no way you could put wood around the bottom of the fence to keep them from putting their heads through it and protecting them a little. If the dogs can't see them, it might now be as much fun to scare them

You only have 3 hens? Here I thought you had more for some reason. I like your deck, I wish I had the dough to have one built here.

@rebelann Five total. That deck is fantastic when it is warm out. I like to sit on the swing and look down at the road and the neighbor cows and when there is water in the creek, the birds.

There's still another hen somewhere but not sure where. The one in front is the Arucana- she lays a blue-green egg.

It would be a nice feast soon. I do want to have some hens in the backyard. Hopefully, I can have them in the summer season.

I want hens for the eggs, I always love my nimals to much to kill them for food, that is why I have a veggie farm.
