Facebook listens in on our conversations?

Today a friend on Facebook posted about how her and her husband were talking about wanting to go on a cruise with a certain cruise line. When she got on Facebook later there was a suggested post ad showing that cruise line was having a sale. Other people commented saying they have experienced the exact same thing. I have never noticed this but when I search on Amazon for something or buy something on there ads for those things will show up in ads on Facebook. My boyfriend mentioned the same thing the other day as did people on this girls post. Interesting to see just how little privacy we have when using our phones and social media etc.

@andriaperry I assume as well that many sites probably do it not just Facebook. Creepy!

I have had this happen before when talking to my sister about something, and then it showed up in my Facebook newsfeed later. They must be listening through our phones. Which is rather creepy. Especially since I don't even have the Facebook app on my phone!

@Srbageldog When this happened were you talking on the phone to your sister or in person?

@shaggin I was talking to her in person. But I had my phone in my pocket. My laptop may have also been on...maybe they spy on us through our computers too.

Any search for anything tracks you, even my favorite store, SAKS! I never heard about Facebook listening to private conversations. It seems impossible to me.

@DianneN That just seems awful to me they do this. At least that's not as creepy as them listening to offline conversations going on in our homes that is what really upsets me.

@DianneN I wouldn't have thought so either but that is what was posted by a friend today and others commented the same thing about experiencing it so I'm creeped out.

@shaggin I don't see how that is possible. I will do an experiment soon and let you know.

wow, that is truly scary, I don't like that they can hear all of that. Maybe I will start shutting my computer off when I am done.

@cintol Cell phones are just as risky. With the laptop I cover the camera but can't do that on my phone.

@cintol It's pretty awful they are allowed to do these things to us. I feel it should be illegal.

@shaggin That's how they tap into your conversations. It's an illegal thing to do but Facebook wants to make money at all costs.

THis is why I rarely talk on social media, except skype. Or maybe skype is being spied on and I"m not aware of it.
