Sloth is a failing.

Today, Thursday, is my number coding day. That means, I am prohibited to drive the car in the metro, by virtue of a traffic regulatory ordinance. That also means, today is the day I clean up the clutter and make our humble home fit for habitation. I am still in wonderment at how three female could own up a good amount of mess given the short time we are together. Unfortunately, sloth has come upon me again. Here I am, checking my notifications, when a good bunch of linen awaits washing. Sloth is indeed a failing.

Don't you just need to stick it in the washing machine?

I have a twin tub for a washing machine. Manual work is still entailed. I couldn't afford the more convenient machines. So expensive. Besides, there's no space in my house.

@eileenleyva Is that one of the machines with an agitator and a wringer? I used one for years.

What is number coding day? I don't blame you for feeling lazy. This is more fun than laundry.

To reduce the volume of cars that thread the major thoroughfares of the metropolis, the traffic enforcement devised the number coding which imposes that all vehicles with license plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 cannot ply the main roads on Mondays. Those that ends in 3 and 4 are banned on Tuesdays. And so on. My license plate ends in 7, so Thursday is my number coding day. Yes, laundry and house chores are not fun for me anymore.

@eileenleyva That reminds me of the gas shortages of the 70s, You could only buy gas on certain days according to the last number on the license plate. What happens to people who work every day and need their car to get there?

@akalinus Personally, I believe the scheme is a fail. The rich simply bought more cars. The middle class who owns just one car commute via bus or jeepney or the train that is in trouble every day. Sigh.. The other option is the taxi cab. And shuttle services (vans). The past two years, I think, we have Uber and Grab. It's a merry traffic in this tropical country.
