Kaajol grew up in my foster family but now she lives with her mother 10 km far from here. She is still supported by our charity. She used to be a student in a neighborhood school. Now, she goes to another school near their village. She will be writing her Higher Secondary Examinations this month. But somehow a government support she should have got last year has not entered her account in the bank. She came to me to for help. I carried her on my motorcycle pillion to her previous school and met the teacher- in-charge. We were directed to meet the bank manager. We rode to the bank. The bank told that Kaajol needed to submit her photo to complete the process. She didn’t have her photo at that moment. I took her to a photo studio nearby and got her instant photographs. We rode back to the bank and she submitted her photo. Her part of the work was over. We returned home. She had lunch in our family. She thanked me and went back to her mother in the afternoon. Did I do anything more than I should do as a foster father? That was the minimum demand of my duty. It would have been a crime not to have availed myself for a foster daughter.

It should give you a good feeling to know that Kaajol felt she could come to you for help - and you didn't let her down. Your charges are very lucky to have you to help them.

It may have been your duty in your eyes, but it seems to me you went well beyond that. Well done to you.

You are obviously a foster parent who cares for your foster children. I'm afraid more than I'd like to admit are more interested in the money than in the caring. Yet I've also met many really caring foster parents here who would be willing to help their foster children as you helped yours. I'm thankful good foster parents like you are making a difference.

when you know you can help someone, and it's for something that's really important, it's hard ignore them.
