As long as you are active at least in some way to the outside world even just online can help keep a person from going nuts, but it is better at least to step out the door once in a day. Sometimes it is difficult and becomes a fear as you say. That is not good to never go outside.

It will make us depressed, I think. I stay at home and work online for many years already and I become depressed lately.

I spend the majority of my time at home. Yes, I go out, but I'm also busy on the computer. I connect with the world that way. A person doesn't need to go crazy if they spend all their time at home if they know how to connect with the world.

I spend most of my time at home and I am usually alone here. It can really get to you, even with Internet, TV, and books to keep me busy. I don't think I've become crazy yet.

LOL! i like the title for this discussion... i really laughed. anyway i think it depends on that person on how he/she will maximize that day on just being at home, like me i can stay at home being alone. i'm a home buddy, i'd rather stay at home and work or doing online works or even household chores than going out. but i still goes out but it depends on where to go and whom to be with...

That's possible I guess. Depends on what's going on in the person's mind. I tried staying at home and not going out for 2 years. My work was online then and my way of entertaining myself was mylot and chatting and a chat room where I was a moderator. But then I got to the point where I realised I wasn't growing as a person. I wasn't exposed to what's going on in my town. So I decided to be free and started going out again. From then on, I can't imagine not going out of the house anymore.

As long as I am busy working inside a home, it does not me crazy. I do go out to shop from time to time after I get paid for doing surveys and blogs via Pay pal.

Many people stay home and have no problem. I feel awful for people stuck in hospitals and nursing homes who are usually not "allowed" outside. What does it take for a worker to take the patient outside for some good vitamin D and fresh air? Really upsets me.

Possible because not doing much activity in a day. A person can go insane.

@dya80dya yes. because most of the time you just lay in bed or sit and stare on the wall.

I think, people choose to stay at home because they have seen too much of the world. If a person who stays at home engages in bad thinking habits, he/she will probably go insane; on th other hand, staying at home is a blessing, one does not have to deal with everyday out of home situations

no, i don't think so. even though i believe in the saying that "an empty mind is the devil's workshop", i still believe that we can be productive even if we are home.
