Gonna Learn to Roller Skate

My sweet hubby bought me roller skates and protective gear because he knows how much I want to roller skate. Sadly i still have to learn how to actually skate which I am hoping he can teach me. I practiced with balancing on them around the house since we have hard floor but the floor was too slippery for me to do anything else with them.
I think I am going to have to go to the roller rink to learn how to skate but with so many people in the way how will I have enough space to practice and get it down? I am thinking maybe if I can find like an empty parking lot I will be better off and able to learn better. I am going to watch some instructional videos too.
Any advice on how to go about learning to skate?

I learned when I was really little. Just be prepared to fall a few times.

The skates with 3 or 4 wheels back to back or the 2 wheels infront and 2 in back?
I've only used the 3 or 4 back to back wheeled ones, as a kid and wish i still had a pair.

You mean roller blades. No I dont even think of roller blades. I have the 4 wheels traditional roller skates

@IvySaysHi both were called roller skates / roller blades when I was growing up. Thats why i was confused lol
