And now I am waiting for the release of my ATM. What happened prior to application and approval: I was told by the bank rep that I need to secure a village residence certificate. I went to the office to get the needed document. I was told by the village officer to get a cedula (Community Tax Certificate). Because of the lack of time, I was unable to accomplish these documents last week. Before the weekend, I went to the City Hall to secure my cedula. I have cedula at work but needs to wait for the releasing so I did not wait. When I got the cedula, I went back to the village office to show it and be issued with the certificate. The officer did not give me one because I just moved and having a residency of a little over 3 months. I got an idea to request the certificate in my previous barangay. My dilemma that day was, what if they require a cedula? The address on it is my new place. Luckily the secretary from my previous place issued me a certificate without the cedula. Went back to the bank. Submitted the certificate along with the duly accomplished forms. Got my account number and the releasing will be this week.

I agree with @andriaperry What a pain to open a Bank account, worse than Italy.

It is a good thing that you have it. I find it troublesome for having the requirements.

Not the bank who requested for the community tax. It was the barangay where I live now. Turns out they don't issue barangay certificate for less than 6 months residency.

@ridingbet I am grateful to the barangay secretary for giving me a clearance. I was a resident for 5 years.

@jobelbojel oh, yes that is true. a barangay clearance is a proof of evidence that you are a resident of the barangay for more than a year or so.

It looks it's tough to open a bank account in your country unlike here where to open a bank account is easy if you have your voter ID card, aadhaar card and pan card.

That was pretty hectic, good thing the secretary was good for you, rare to have those people. This is why I'm not neglecting my debit card.

I have no choice. I have to do it because my brother needs help. His salary will be credited to my account. He is in the process of opening his own account but can't secure government IDs.

Sometimes when we want something, we had to work for it. But the most important thing is, you were able to accomplish the documents needed and get your account number.
