Prayers and Words of Encouragement: The Only Thing I Could Give Ayantika

Last Sunday evening, I went to see Ayantika, one of my former students. She is writing her ICSE exams, the final board exams of Class X. Exams of four subjects are over whereas six more are to follow. I was at her house to say some words of encouragement and pray over her. She needs encouragement and prayer perhaps more than all other students who go with her to Jesus and Mary H. S. School, 30 km north to a town called Ranaghat. During the years she was in Familia School, where I was a teacher, she suddenly contacted a mysterious eye disease. With a little support from our charity her parents took her to one of the best hospitals in Chennai for eye care; but unfortunately her right eye could not be saved. She has continued her studies diligently in spite of the hurdle. And now she is appearing in ICSE board examinations. Her courage and resilience is praiseworthy. She will have to overcome a new and bigger hurdle as the financial support she gets will be stopped after ICSE exams. How will she continue her studies through Class XI and Class XII is a big question. Her father sells milk from their two cows and chickens from their small poultry. That’s their only source of income. Sometimes, I feel frustrated anger wishing if I had enough money I could help children like Ayantika better! Tues, March 13, 2018

It is a very sad thing that happened to the girl. Yes I imagine it must be very frustrating not to be able to do more.

Hopefully all your prayers will be answered in some way. I do hope so. How old is Ayantika now?

Your former student's courage and determination will not be wasted. Overcoming obstacles are part of life. She has achieved much already and will have the strength from that experience to face whatever adversity awaits her. Have faith in God and you shall overcome those obstacles that await...

It's really frustrating when children who deserve the right education couldn't get that at all.

That's the sad truth. There are many stories like that of Ayantika every day. We only do the best we can do to relieve their problems.
