I am now officially a business owner. I named my new music studio Peggy's Music Academy. I named it after my mom, Peggy Lucas. She loved music so much. She played guitar and piano, both by ear. She taught me, then I went on and took piano in college and learned how to read music. My mama loved to sing. She liked country music (which I hate). She even went to Nashville to release a single in the early eighties. In the early nineties, she went back to Nashville and opened for Willie Nelson. I have pictures of her taking me and my second brother to meet Johnny Cash and the Statler Brothers when we were babies. Mama most loved Southern Gospel music. Her favorite was the Gaithers and Guy Penrod. She played piano and organ at church and was the youth choir director. She never sings anymore. She has not played and instrument in about 10 years. She never even listens to music. Her health conditions have almost destroyed her. I miss the days of hearing her sing, of seeing the smile on her face as she talked about music. Her favorite song of all was "I'll Worship Only at the Feet of Jesus". Her mind is no longer right, but she left us a legacy of passion for music and love for our Savior. I am honored to own and operate a business named in her honor. **The photo is her senior high school picture. She is now 71 years old.
