How Far Does One Go With This?

About a week ago I posted about a Boise teacher who fed a sickly puppy to a snapping turtle. Reading an update today I see where he had fed guinea pigs and mice to it also. So where does it end? When is it too much? I've heard of owners feeding their snakes mice. The snake when in the wild will catch mice and small animals to eat. So where does it end? When is it animal abuse and inhumane? When the media gets ahold of it?

I would wonder what the normal diet of a snapping turtle would be, before I would consider what's abusive and what's not. I certainly wouldn't feed pets to it.

This is one reason why I do not own animals that need to eat live prey. I even had mental/moral issues with the fact that for a while my dad drove and delivered laboratory mice, and other rodents that were specifically bred for scientific experiments.

Ugh! I have a problem watching documentaries where wild animals kill their prey. Ugh!

I think people are sensitive when it comes to dogs but not so when the animal is considered a pest like rats.

If the dog was sickly why would you feed it to a healthy turtle? Presumably it did it no harm. Some zoo's feed their animals on other animals from the zoo??

That dog part is awful and should (may) be against the law. Wildlife centers that house injured hawks, owls, eagles, etc, raise mice to feed the birds.
