The worst financial decision you have taken

We all take financial decisions every day. Some people like taking risks while some don’t. Whatever camp we fall in, at one time or the other, we have taken a financial decision that was later regretted. So, mylotters, what finance decision have you taken that later turned out to ruin your day or you regretted and would never forget?

My worst financial decision was playing the slots at the local casino. It turned into a full blown gambling addiction and I lost everything, including my relationships with my daughters. Had I been wise then, I could have had a house, a car, everything I needed plus money in the bank to travel. :-(

So sorry to hear that. I believe it won't repeat itself since you have learned from it.

Buying a Whole Life Insurance Policy. It was a scam and later we heard from that Financial Guy named Clark Howard , that Whole Life Insurance Policies are not good. I wish we had heard it before.

I will never purchase insurance of any kind. I think it is ALL a scam. I hope you have recovered from your loss.

Giving a lot of money away!! We want to help, but we cannot go broke and give away more than we can afford!!

@db20747 If you had some, would you repeat that mistake again? I know some would.

Putting money in a business wherein your partners will just cheat on you and rob you with the profits.

I would regret that decision for a very long time. I will also learn from it.

Taking risk would take careful planning. Financially speaking, I haven't ran into making major decisions in life.

Okay. I now know that you are a very young person. You will find yourself making one in the future.

We bought into a farm machinery business with some others and eventually had to walk away with nothing as our partners had their farms on the line. We had put in cash. But it's all good now and we're still friends with those people.

That's very good. Business failures should not make ones enemies.

I was looking for such a topic and here it is. Yes, I have made a worst financial decision recently. I have given almost inr125ooo to a club for membership and now they are not receiving any calls and not bothering to tell us about their facilities too. Don't know whether we can get back the money.

You might not get the money. Take it as a learning experience on how to be careful in the future.
