The biggest song of 1977 was by Rod Stewart "Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)" and it was on the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks. This is not my top favorite of his songs but there are many others I do like. The song was included on his A Night on the Town album. The Song of the Year was by Barry Manilow “I Write the Songs”. This again is not among my favorites but there are many songs I do like by Manilow. What is interesting is that Manilow did not write this song. It was written by Bruce Johnston in 1975 and the original version was recorded by The Captain & Tenille. Finally, the best song of the year was by Donna Summer “I Feel Love” and I must be honest I have never heard of this song before. It was written by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte and was on her album I Remember Yesterday. The song was popular during the Disco era. What are your opinions on these songs and artists?

I know many people made fun of the song due to the fact that Manilow did not write it but sings those lyrics @JudyEv

Rod Stewart had songs for those romantic date nights. I liked Donna Summer too.

I remember all of those songs but I was not a Barry Manilow fan at all.

No wonder I had turned to burgeoning alternative scene by that time.

I'll take "I Feel Love." I like Giorgio Moroder. His soundtrack for the movie Midnight Express was outstanding.
