Day Seventeen: Write about a lesson you learned the hard way. Oh wow.. just one?! Hmm. Guess I'll go with can't trust anyone but yourself. As I've definitely been through it with many bad friends and family members. Along with my "dad", my ex, and others. Though, I still try to trust a few people. I just can't completely trust them. Gotta look out for number one - me. .

I trust everybody until they give me a reason not to trust them.

That's how I use to be. Never worked out well. So now, gotta give reasons for me to trust.

@Courtlynn Hmm...it's been the opposite for me. It has served me well in my career and in my life.

@moffittjc well I've been taken advantage of the last 10 years.. so.. plus people can just be hateful. Like "my aunt" who called dcf on my mom for me being pregnant at 15 - which isn't a crime or something they can do anything about. And her also calling welfare at the same time, telling them my brother and I didn't live at home and go to school. When we both did both. Just to try getting my moms foodstamps taken away.

I agree with you on this one. I used to trust everyone until they gave me a reason to not trust them. I assume everyone will be like me and be honest and trustworthy but I found that to be wong. Now I have trust issues and pretty much do not fully trust anyone but myself.

Exactly! Some of us go through really bad times with others to where the trust just can't fully be there. With anyone. Even if we want it to be because it would make life easier.

I only count on God to put the right people in my path when I need it-and He can always be trusted. =) I cannot think of one right now-I might have to get back to you on this one.

I cannot actually think of a lesson that I learned the hard way, not on demand anyways. One will come to me later I'm sure.

I've learned not to expect things from people and then they can't disappoint you.

When you have bad experiences with certain people it is easy to mistrust others. I lose trust in those who give me a reason to do so.

Good lesson to trust your self in times of life since people can trick us when we least expect it.
