Is it really "all about the bass"?

I recently bought a new subwoofer. It's basically a 16" cube with a 12" woofer (bass driver) and an amplifier inside. It reproduces only the lowest frequencies in music. My old M&K V-2B (a classic) hadn't sounded the same since I had it worked on (re-foamed, for those of you who know what that is), so I decided to see what a new sub- would sound like. I bought a 12" ported sub- from Parts Express for about $130, including shipping. It's called the Dayton 1200, or something like that. Since the cost was minimal, I thought it was worth it to experiment. Today, I finally gave the new sub- a real test. I listened to some Bach organ music (one of my old vinyl recordings of Karl Richter playing on DG) through my Acoustic Research AR-3as with the sub- crossed over at about 50 hz. On a piece in C major, I finally heard the wall-rattling bass pedal tones I'd been missing recently. I Googled a chart that shows note/frequency, and realized that the deep pedal tone I was listening to was about 33 hz. That's pretty deep. So now I can relax, forget about testing, and enjoy the music. Something that makes me feel some regret? Check the picture I attached! The old M&K is in the back. The new (boring looking) Dayton is in the front, and the bottoms of my DCM Time Windows (my reference speakers) are DUSTY! Worry not. I have since remedied that. Have you purchased anything inexpensive but significant lately?

I like to hear bass. I do not like to "feel" bass coming from a car half a mile away from me.

Even if it's Bach organ music?

What was it? I tend to play my cards close to my vest. But once in awhile I spring for something. I bought a new (used) bass guitar a few months ago.

@TheHorse haha.. not as extravagant as yours. I mean something more personal. I can't buy things that much because I move a lot. and it is difficult for me to have so many things to carry.

@Mavic123456 That's been a problem for me too. I don't like moving. Except for my guitars and stereo gear, I don't have "too much stuff."

@Jessabuma Sometimes you don't have to spend a lot to get the quality you need.
