What's the Best Part of Snow and Cold?

No biting insects! Think about that when it's summertime and you are becoming a snack for tons of bugs interested in you and your blood. At least in the frozen weather, there are none of those around!

@OneOfMany I cannot stand mosquitoes, they are worse than the hornets. At least I can see a hornet and kill it.

@LadyDuck I kill off the hornets too. I seem to get stung by them once a year.

I'm sure if people heard the buzzing and nothing else, they'd go crazy. I'm sure there is some sadistic person out there that made a music file with only that sound.

The best part of snow and ice? When it goes away.

@OneOfMany -- I always had to wipe their paws off when they came in out of the snow.

But then it makes everything muddy for a while. And then you have to wipe the feet of pets whenever they come inside. For several months. :P

@FourWalls Usually if it is ice and really cold snow, there is no need to do that for our dogs. :P

Sticky sweat, awful stink, people whining about my pale skin, but yes, mosquitoes win!

I had a large horse fly chowing down on me last year. It found a spot I couldn't feel and bit me. When my cousin smacked it, there was blood everywhere.

@OneOfMany I'm drooling. I don't think we have horse flies over here.

@sabtraversa They are large. And they have mouths like scissors. The whole point is to slash your skin and get to the blood. XD

Seeing I do not live in a cold country, it is hard for me to decide.

Yes, at one time, this place was under a mile thick sheet of ice. As such, people that live here can expect it to be cold.

@Courage7 Although, heating a house is more expensive in the long run. It is nice to grow vegetables during the summer.

May be, but I hate winter season. In winter, my sciatica pain gets stronger.

That sounds bad. I have greater pain too, but it's because I'm inside more than out.

Yes, mosquitoes generally dislike being frozen in ice.

I agree with you. This is the benefit of cold. But only this. I hate cold weather.

Most people would rather have it warm. Still, it supplies a good when people say: "There's nothing good about the winter!"

I have one of those rare blood types that bugs don't like. Hardly ever do I get bitten. I can say with certainty that I have never been bitten by a bedbug, even in an infested apartment building. I found out recently that there is an abnormal protein in my blood. Maybe bugs can sense it and stay away from me. I'm certainly not complaining. :-)

That's certainly interesting. They love my blood. It looks like fruit punch, so that must be why!
