It has been snowing since yesterday. As of seven hours ago, we got six and a half inches.

@MsBooklover That's a heavy box to put on your back, especially at 70 years old. It's sad what a person must do to earn a living when work in their field isn't available.

@just4him It is true, and I am not a racist. However, I have been told about people coming into the country who are sworn in with an interpreter because they don't know a lick of English. We know they cannot get jobs that being the case. We know how they will be supported. My partner lives in a very small and old house in a Hispanic hood neighborhood. They treat him like dirt, and he is very scared. He has been living there longer than all of them. Yet, we are bringing people into our country who will have a better life than people who were born here. That does not seem fair.

And for physical labor... My partner puts a 28 pound box of heat on his back to vacuum three floors of 12 buildings and other buildings. He is 70 years old. I clean and dust...and I am allergic to dust...and have bleeding sores on my hands that I can only think are coming from holding dust equipment that I had to make myself to do the job. My partner has two bachelor degrees, and I have one. We are tired, and when you have to walk in the ice and snow to get from one building to the next, you ask yourself where you went wrong.

@MsBooklover oh I see that sounds like a tough job. My mom has cleaned houses for 15 years but never that many at a time.

I walk to apartment buildings...and then clean them. There are 12 of those and then other buildings, too. Three floors in each apartment building. It is hot in the buildings and cold outside. You have to wear a coat because it is so cold, but when you get inside, it is so hot.

It snows in Louisiana...I had no idea.
