Day 5 Micah 5 Micah 5:1 Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek. 2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. 3 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travails hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel. 4 And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth. 5 And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men. 6 And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he comes into our land, and when he treads within our borders. 7 And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarries not for man, nor waits for the sons of men. 8 And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treads down, and tears in pieces, and none can deliver. 9 Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off. 10 And it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots: 11 And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strongholds: 12 And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers: 13 Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands. 14 And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee: so will I destroy thy cities. 15 And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard. People are of two minds when it comes to the end of the world. They believe the Hollywood version of how the world will end, or they believe the Bible. Many also believe in a third view, that the world will never end, but life will continue unimpeded. Yet, all things come to an end. God told Micah the end would begin with Jesus’ birth, foretold here with his birthplace in Bethlehem. The Ruler of Israel would be born and he will come against the heathen in anger and fury. He isn’t just any ruler, but God says, he has been from everlasting, or eternity. As Christians, you know Jesus was born in Bethlehem. In the end, his people would know him as the Peace. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (KJV) The remnant of Israel would know him. When Jesus returns for his church, and Tribulation begins, then his chosen people will know him, and they will go out and proclaim the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Revelation 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. (KJV) Then all wickedness will be destroyed, and Antichrist will be sentenced, and the world will be free of the shackles Satan put on them because Jesus will execute vengeance and fury on the heathen, such as the world has never seen. This is not only the end of all wickedness, but it is the beginning of Jesus’ rule in peace, and all nations will glorify God, and Jesus his Son. Let’s pray: Father, your Word points to the end when Jesus will rule over the nations in peace and bring judgment to the heathen. Help me live for you daily, looking forward to the day when Satan will be sentenced and will no longer be a threat to my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. The Alpha and the Omega - the beginning and the end. All things will come to an end - but we don't really know when that will be.
