Do you believe in the right to abortion? Personally, I don't believe totally in this. I have 3 different standpoints on this, Firstly, I think, it's okay when the foetus is a treat to the mother or in the case of abnormalities of the child and other medical cases. I'm also looking at it in the angle of rape. Secondly, I also think, when the lady is too young to make her own decisions or not in the right state of mind to think for herself. Thirdly, as a Christian, abortion is never an opinion. The bible teaches we don't have the right to take anyone's life thus "thy shall not kill" but then I think there should be expectional cases. This topic is very dicey, as it could mean a lot to different people but then what is truly the right thing to do? I know in most developed countries, abortion is legal, but most part of Africa, passed a law against abortion. Do you think we are messing with the human rights? Should people be allowed to abort any time they want? I know, no one should tell you what to do with your body after all, it's yours. Should the economy situation also inference this decision? What are you personal views on this. Should personal view supercedes any other views? Image: Pixabay.com

I believe it should be allowed. No one should force someone to become a parent if they don’t want to be one.

I agree with your points. I think abortion should be allowed when it's a threat to the mother's life and child development, and in case of rape, because that would be humane, better to be safe than sorry. It's better to avoid abortion in the other cases, one has to be responsible and such treatment can affect the mother's health negatively, from sterility to other complications. However, just like the other illegal things, people always get what they want. Pregnant women will go to unauthorized doctors or take poisons to abort, and that's very dangerous. Problems don't get solved with prohibition, the mentality has to change first. It seems like religion is the main reason why abortion is banned, most developed countries are laic, but there are several countries whose economy is improving, that are still very religious in their laws.

You said it better! The rate at which young people die as a result of abortion from quack doctors is alarming. One of the reasons why most countries in Africa are totally against it. I lost one of my childhood friend as a result of this.

I once got pregnant with contraception, a failed coil, and I was offered a termination. I knew without a doubt that I couldn't do it despite the fact we hadn't planned a baby. I was rewarded a thousand times by being given a lovely daughter. However I am not completely against abortion in certain circumstances. I agree with points made here that it should be allowed when a mother's life is at risk or if a baby has a severe deformity and would have no quality of life.

I personally, am against abortion. Unless the pregnancy is by rape, or there's a health issue. BUT I will not tell a woman to get one. I just won't get one myself. As my body is the only one I'm in control of.

No need getting pregnant in the first place if one is not financially stable.

I would never have an abortion. It would be totally against my principles. It is wrong to kill an innocent baby. In some European countries abortion is allowed up to 12 weeks pregnancy. In my home country, England, it is available up to 24 weeks pregnancy. Up to 9 weeks pregnancy a lady could take abortion pills to end her pregnancy. Later in pregnancy it would be surgery like an operation. In the 1960s abortion wasn't available and unwanted babies were adopted to a loving couple or a caring family. My mum's friends Jo and Bob adopted a baby girl. She had come from a teenager. Less than 2 years later they adopted a baby boy. He had come from a mature career lady. These two people would be todays world aborted characters. It is never the baby's fault. All babies deserve to be born. I wish unwanted babies could be adopted and not killed in abortion. I let my disabled 11 year old be born and he is doing so well in life.
