Fake news and its ramifications

For some it is a game. They have fun sending out fake news and they watch the fun - some sadistic joy they get out of it.
Just recently there was news that some exam papers here in India had leaked. While there was truth in some cases but not so with others. The powers that be had to run around in circles just to ensure that not all papers had not leaked.
Is there a way out?

It all started with Trump. Whatever is against him he categorised it as fake news (lol)
