Today was the day...much anticipated... My grandson is a member of the Burlington Teen Tour Band.... Every April they have a fundraising concert. It has never disappointed. This band is incredible. Their performance is second to none. (Can you tell I'm a proud grandma!) On January 1st they marched in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena California. This was the fifth time the band had marched in this parade. Very few international bands make a second appearance. The year before they were the only non American band invited to the Pearl Harbour Anniversary celebrations. They have been invited to represent Canada on Juno Beach in 2019. Surprisingly the Unitd States also invited them to participate in the American Memorial. The band has been in several movies....my grandson was in the Stephen King movie "It" that was in theatres in September. A movie I'm more familiar with was "Hairspray" with John Travolta. I'll need to watch the movie again, now that I have learned this.

They need to be seen to be believed. They make so many other bands look and sound like bumbling amateurs. They are often scheduled at the end of a parade so the audience will enjoy the other bands with comparing them to this band.

@Morleyhunt They must be really good - and clever thinking to put them at the rear.

I understand you are a proud grandma. I also prefer "Hairspray" to "It". This is one of the novels written by Stephen Kind that I never liked. May be because I have a phobia for the clowns.

@Morleyhunt I like mystery movies, but not horror, especially if they are gore.

I'm not much for watching movies that fall into the horror genre....I prefer comedy, or drama. Musicals also hold a special appeal.

They look and perform like professionals. They have at least 90 practices a year as well as 90 performances. They are in commercials and music videos...I'm going to try another post with maybe a YouTube link. (I suck at adding links )

At Christmas time they do a local parade. Then following the parade, they walk a couple of blocks and do a performance outside of a nursing home....they have been following that tradition for around 20 years.

You noticed. . I'm just a gushing grandma. This is something I will miss when we move away. This summer they will march in the 4th of July parade in Bristol, Rhode Island and in Wakefield Massachusetts.
