I am soooo close to finishing my countdown of my favorite bands with a color in their name that I figured I would stick with bands rather than go with individual songs. Welcome to my countdown of my favorite bands with "of" in their name. #10? Queens of the Stone Age.
Led by former Kyuss vocalist Josh Homme, Queens of the Stone Age formed in Palm Desert, California, in 1996, first calling themselves "Gamma Ray." Their sound runs the gamut from alternative to stoner rock, with a bit of hard rock and metal thrown in for good measure.
In fact, the band's influences include groups such as Blue Cheer and Grand Funk Railroad, as well as genre's like electronica, trance, trip hop, and hip hop. Frankly, in a world where all new music sounds much the same, I find these guys a breath of fresh air.
I highly encourage you to watch the video that I've linked. It's a great video, one of the best I've seen in awhile.
Enjoy!
(Both Dave Grohl and Billy Gibbons have worked with this band info verified by Wikipedia)

They were something of a "supergroup." We all know "No One Knows."
