J and I have been talking for a long time that the kitchen and bathrooms need to be upgraded and remodeled. We've even gone so far as to draw up a rough plan of what we want to do the kitchen, and met with a contractor. The price is incredible. There's so much that needs to be done.There's not just the inside, there's the outside as well. J is starting to have real fits over all of this. He can't make any decisions and what he really wants is a science lab. The problem is that it would be grossly expensive -- soapstone countertops are not cheap, are porous, are high maintenence and god help you if you chip or break it. I am wanting quartz -- it's high durability, doesn't stain, and much cheaper than soapstone. In any case, it's estimated (if we believe the contractor) to run to six figures. Ouch. OUCH. OUCHOUCHOUCH. So it goes.
