Marine life endangered. Ours, too.

It has become a daily report, whether on the news, the internet, from friends and family, the dolphins and the great white whales. the schools of fish and the breathtaking corals are dying from the plastic trash thrown on the seas. Research has it that the salt now has plastic content. Okay, we need rock salt for our cooking, don't we? And for food preservatives. Unless you and I begin with advocating the no plastic lifestyle, we are in very serious danger.

Human beings are too smart that even the slightest thing had to be thrown in the sea. So sad we had become negligent of our responsibilities.

@eileenleyva True. I saw a lot of garbage floating in the sea when we were on our way to Camiguin or Dumaguete. It was really shocking and sad.

@mlgen1037 I am sorry to hear that. Dumaguete is the writer's corner. Polluted waters is not acceptable. Visayans, do take note, your home provinces had already received the worst of disasters. Please clean up.

The past quarter of a century, both public and private schools in my country have instructed the students to separate the biodegradable garbage from the non-biodegradble. Thus far, the youth know the repercussions of using plastic. Our local governments, too, have issued ordinances and straws and plastic are not allowed in most cities and towns. We bring our own eco bag or use the brown bag for our goods. Yet, mountains of thrash lie on the seabed, or float on shores. My my, our oceans are emitting filthy air for us to breathe, No wonder lung cancer is a top killer.

Sorry for that. I think if the government in every country takes messures to prevent the plastic pollution. It will be better.

My people is very much aware. Plastic has gradually been eliminated from the malls. We use our own eco bags. Garbage is being managed well. I cannot, however, vouch for the slum areas. But our country is most serious about this, Ours is an archipelago. When the water rises, we will drown..

@caopaopao We call it eco bags, I have some fifty eco bags now. Glad China is conscious of the environmental problems, I heard on the news that the price of paper has gone up because China has closed factories due to air pollution. That is good news.

@eileenleyva So glad to hear that. People in my country began to prevent plastic bags, too. Supermarket gave free plastic bags to the customers. But now if we want to have the bag, we have to pay for it . So now many customers bring their own bags when they went shopping.

Yup, the packaging delivers the bulk in my plastic bin. A television program show that one way of solving this is stuffing the plastic in the plastic water containers and these water containers can be used as building materials for indigenous peoples' dwellings. I think I can do this. I must find out though where to send.

@eileenleyva that is a really great idea .. Here in Australia, we have been using our own grocery shopping bags for more than ten years now .. When I was over there in the Philippines early this year, I'm really pleased that they don't use plastic bags anymore ..

I bring food containers to the grocery for my cold cuts and fish, still, the amount of plastic that accumulates in my home is horrendous. I bought two kilos of rice and it came in plastic. Sigh. Next time, I will bring my rice container.\ Happy to know you have done your part.

Since plastic bags are sold and not given anymore people are a bit more responsible here, but what has been done in the past cannot be repaired : some parts of Spain used to drop their garbage in the sea during decades, and the plastic bags were not biodegradable before the 1990's... Until the early 1980's the Oceans have been used to drop nuclear waste... The sea has been used to drop garbage since thousands of years, at least we finally realized that the sea was not a garbage can.
