Spring is here!

For the last few days we have had unusually high temperatures here in the UK and again my town has been the hottest place in the UK. The reason is that we have our own microclimate which is usually slightly warmer than other places here due to the fact that we are in a slight valley and we are right beside the River Thames. After what seems such a long drawn out winter warmer weather has arrived and there is a change in peoples moods. Seeing blue skies and feeling the warmth of the sun on our faces certainly makes you feel a lot better rather than the dank, grey miserable days we endure throughout the winter months. It is great to see people smiling, kids playing in the parks and people coming out of their houses rather than scurrying around to get to the shop or work and back and trying to keep dry or warm. The days are much longer and we still will have a few months of this so that is something to look forward to. The trees are in full bloom the magnolia's showing off their brief two week flowers which will drop soon. The cherry and apple trees are in full bloom and of course the flowers are blooming too. We live in such a beautiful world and it is so important for us to protect it for generations to come. The UK is going to start to ban the use of certain plastic products such as straws and ear swabs. There is a big push to cut down the use of plastics. The photo is of the Two pitons on the Island of St Lucia with the lush green foliage that is seen all year. Our trees are sprouting their leaves for another cycle of summer that is just around the corner. I hope things are warming up where you live and nature is coming back to life again!

The past two days have been very hot also here Gary, 29ยบ Celsius yesterday, it should be a little cooler today. From cold to hot, from rainy to sunny, my garden looks like a tropical forest. I need to go out and work.

@LadyDuck , You don't know how much I envy you right now for working in the garden. But I do not envy the "too hot" weather.

@garymarsh6 Same here, one week ago it was almost cold, now it is too hot. I washed the car yesterday, the metal was hot under the sun.

Haha yes it has been unusually hot here. When I got in my car last night it was 38C. I could not touch the steering wheel until the aircon had cooled it down a bit! Last week it was around 10-13C since Wednesday it has been around 27-28C how mad!

We've had snow several times this week but yesterday we had sunshine and blue skies...the temperature was still cold, but there is a warming trend in the forecast.

@marlina I'm hoping that the forecast for this week is accurate. I really didn't want to drive 1700 km is the rain.

I thing every country should get rid of plastic bags that would save a lot of plastic waste.

I saw a programme about the plastics being made into bricks and they were able to build houses with them. I bet it would feel like living in a lego brick house!

In tropical Asia where I have lived all my life, I enjoy three seasons - hot, hotter and hottest! We do have rainy spells though. It is our bounden duty to take care of our only home. I remember always the saying "We Do Not Inherit the Earth from Our Ancestors; We Borrow It from Our Children" - siva

When I think of England I usually think of rain and grey skies. Lovely that you're having beautiful weather - and there is still summer waiting its turn.
