Curry leaves form an important agent in Indian cuisines. They are the leaves from the tree scientifically known as Murraya koenigii Spreng that is grown in India. This tree is now grown in other countries like Sri Lanka, Australia, Nigeria and China. The leaves of this tree impart a palatable aroma to the cuisines in which they are used. But more than the aroma these leaves are very good for health with some life-saving properties. The Curry leaves have the following benefits when consumed: 1. They are very good for skin. 2. They are very good for hair. 3. They cure diarrhea. 4. They are helpful in reducing the cholesterol levels in the blood. 5. They fight against the cancer 6. They are having anti Diabetic properties. 7. They are very good anti-oxidants. 8. They are helpful in protecting the liver 9. They are Protect against Pathogenic attack 10. They give gastro intestinal protection. In fact these leaves are very nutritious and we more or less use them on regular basis as we have got a small tree in our garden! Have you ever heard about this tree and the leaves? If Yes do you use these leaves on regular basis? Please respond , your responses will be highly appreciated! Thanks!

@chavezrmc , I am not sure if you have this tree in Philippines. urry powder is not coming from these leaves. In fact curry powder is mixture of various spices to make curry out of any vegetable or meat. We add the curry powder to the vegetable/meat after frying it and add water to boil it to make curry. These leaves are added in such curries or sauces to enhance the aroma of the dish! Thanks!

I heard people are doing this for weight loss. How big is the tree you are having in the garden? I have got a huge tree like neem at my place in my home city. Do you know if people can't get Basil or Tulsi leaves for performing Puja, then these leaves are used as a substitute? Thanks dear @Icydoll!

My garden is loaded with these trees three of them are as tall as our mango trees. I have a herb chutney which mainly contains curry leaves. I also have curry leaves cooked in coconut oil which I apply to my hair. Curry leaves are also used for garnishing many dishes.

I haven't seen curry leaves yet. That is because we don't have curry trees here. I know that there in India curry is bountiful as with the other spices. I think that is the reason while Indians have thick and lushful hair. I haven't seen a bald Indian yet.

@AKRao24 That's just an observation for Indians because there are lots of Indian students here in our province, studying medicine. They all have lushful hair, mustache and some have short beards. Because I have thinning hair I thought of that as the reason. Which is maybe true. Well, when one gets old, balding and thinning of hair are what happens.

Without curry leaves my dishes are incomplete. I try to get curry leaves from the market. It is available in market. Sometimes they serve it as free along with veggies. Then our neighbour who resides in the opposite have two big plants in their balcony, I can reach that plant easily, lol. The lady in that home is already told me to take it whenever you are in need. However, I do prefer to store in my fridge buying from market.
