He is a self-declared and self-styled God man, of 77 year old, having more than 400 Ashrams (Spiritual hermitage) in the Country and he had about 40 million followers in India and also abroad. His name is Asaram Bapu. He was arrested 5 years back on the charge of raping a minor girl by Indian Police. During interrogation during these years many shocking facts have come to light. He was just grade three passed person who used to ride horse cart for making his livelihood in his early life. Later on with the help of local people he has become a God man and started cheating the people in his own style by exploiting them physically and accumulating money from them. He is having Hundred Thousand Millions of rupees as his assets and he could attract many political leaders in the capacity of a saint along with commoners. Now since everything has come into light about this Pseudo God Man, he has been given Life Imprisonment till the death by the court. There are at least six more prominent God Men who have been arrested and their fate is to be soon to make them Jail birds. I really feel bad about the people who blindly follow such fake people and they give away everything to them including self, family and the wealth they have. It is not only the illiterate masses who follow these God men but educated people are also getting prey to such criminals. Unfortunately politicians not only give shelter to such God men but also donate them large amount of Wealth in order to get the vote bank they have with them We need a big change in Indian society which can be brought about by the modern youth by using the rationale thinking and educating the masses about such fraud men! What do you say? Please respond! Your response will be highly appreciated! Thanks!

@CaptAlbertWhisker I think it's just a so-so punishment. But it will be amazing if it's live-streamed to every TV in the world.

What's the bet they are part of the establishment? I bet they have friends in high places. Why stop at jail? We need to start hanging people so there is no unforeseen way they will be free to enter society again.

I guess this is happening around the globe. And i just hope that those victims can get justice. We really can't tell who's evil most specially if they are using the name of God.

@ConVolines , Yes people they get influenced by their gullible talks and the generous deeds like feeding the people free of cost on regular basis and providing free shelter at the ashrams to stay for them for any number of days. After all they are psychics and they have perverted looks ! Thanks for your observations!

I think you can generally tell by looking at them. Seriously. Look at the corrupt and the deranged (including many pedophiles) - they don't look normal and healthy like the rest of us.

Yes, these things are happening all around the globe from Vatican City to the Varanasi City! unfortunately here in the system of justice we have the culprit gets the punishment but the victims don't get any compensation, even if they get in the form of some small amount, what that implies? Yes, the cheaters they use the name of God to cheat the people as it becomes easy to convince the innocent people by using the entity! Very sad @chavezrmc !

I came to know about him in details yesterday only. The news channel explained about his life in short and I heard all these things you explained here. I was also shocked to heard about his wealth and his growth of Ashrams being an uneducated person. Really people are fools in our country. There is only one Sun, it is sad people follow stars (I don't know this word is suitable here for such criminals) and think that they can brighten their future. Utter foolishness, that is what I can say. Yes, we need change, I do hope the next generation can do something.

@Sreekala , As @vandana7 says this is the time where we need to think a step further, he got his punishment for his misdeeds as per the law, that is fine. Now what will happen to the Victim ? The victim should be compensated fairly to lead a comfortable life which often becomes next to impossible in Indian society after such incidents. In this particular case since the parents are asking for 50 lakhs as compensation and the court is also approved that...it is OK, as the culprit is having lot of money with him. But in case of a person not having that money how can a victim be compensated? Government should come up with a uniform law, where in as per the earning capability of the victim the compensation be decided! Today the Government has increased the compensation from 3 lakhs to 10 lakhs, but will that be Ok for a victim who was earning 1 lakh a month and lost everything in such incident?

@AKRao24 Thanks for understanding what I meant. Sun can't be compared with any star even though it also a star. I felt pity on him as he will live his whole life in jail at this old age. Same time I felt shame too.

Yes, many of us must be happy with this types of News. These people are criminals from the core of their heart. This person tried all the possible ways to plead that is is not guilty and tried to produce many fake certificates and audio CDs in the court of law which were dismissed by the court. Yes such people are globally present and they are doing such heinous acts in the name of God to trap the people. Thanks God today's mass media is very fast and updates the news then and there only which is making big difference today. Some organizations have taken initiative and they are working towards the safety of he children in India and i am sure other countries also must be having such organizations! Thanks @epiffanie for expressing your views on this burning topic.

@vandana7 , Do you really think we can implement these things in our country? Yes, for getting these things to get happen we will require to have a big revolution, i don't mean violent agitations etc, But awakening the people from their sleep and asking them to come out of their shell and join hands to fight for this cause. It is again we people are responsible , if such things are happening in the society! Very sad!

Today we had a pastor raping a 11 year old, after the new rape laws. There would be some lawyer protecting him. But he could be innocent too. Sometimes people accuse wrongly. My solution to that is freeze assets of both the accused and accuser and offer government attorneys to both parties. That way they cannot buy the witnesses, or pay for tampering evidences. Freeze even assets of the parents and grandparents and spouses and children and in-laws and siblings till the accusation is proved this way or that way. Time frame has already been defined. Once the accused is found guilty of crime, his or her assets be taken over by the government and they be rendered paupers. Likewise, if accuser is telling lies, his or her assets too can be taken over. No lawyer working on such cases would be allowed to handle more than 5 cases at a time and there simply would be no permission for extension of the case more than 3 times in that period. In fact, this should be the norm for all cases in the country, and any lawyer seeking more than three extensions can be demoted and finally barred from practicing. As to old cases, let them be uploaded on net. Let people who know something about crimes and solving them access relevant files. Let people think and suggest solutions. If a case is solved by comparatively modern technique that police force was not using, or unaware of, pay people a nominal charge for getting justice. Even logic can help. Coordination of logic is possible now. No privacy concerns should be thought of in respect of people who infringe others rights of privacy. It may be deemed that they gave up those rights the day they infringed others rights to privacy and safety in this country.

Exactly , without the support of the masses these people can't survive in the society. The blind belief together with the illiteracy they are getting easily influenced by these people.Once they are entrapped then for their vested interests innocent people they become agents for these cunning God men and thus the clan goes on increasing in size and strength! The people in the society needs to be educated and they need to be trained think logically and rationally. These things can only be done by some NGOs or some interested Voluntary organizations @JudyEv !

Dear @stapllotik 1. Today are there are dime a dozen who are speaking against them why then all are not trapped in a conspiracy and sent to jail? 2. People are talking openly about many Products and Companies now-a-days through social media, are they been sent to Jail? 3. This business of cheating the people making vote bank with the help of them is a easiest thing and many people are practicing the thing. Please remember he is not the pioneer in creating vote bank. 4. What is the work he did for the society except for exploiting the weak for his lust and his aid’s lust. He might have done some good deeds but that doesn’t make him to have a shelter against serious crimes. The Law made is equally applicable to every citizen irrespective of his status un the Society. 5. The followers what you have mentioned here are not really fools to follow him they were following him like Political leaders for their own vested interests. 6. How can you say that the evidences are manipulated when the things are crystal clear today that, not only he manipulated the evidences but he got rid of eye witnesses by killing them. 7. If you are making such statement about our judiciary system , it show how serious are you about such problems prevailing in the society and what is your thinking about them! 8. He had very good skill of management or otherwise a man studies in class three and who used to ride a Tonga for his livelihood could make this big empire without doing any business? 9. He was very good manipulator, manager and cunning man who knew how to fool the innocent and poor people and he has taken full advantage of the situation. 10. Last but not least he has defamed the Saints and the religious Gurus by his heinous acts in the name of God, with whom every average Indian associates himself/herself

@AKRao24 Part of the problem is advocates are taking on too many cases and hatching them. You see every appearance in Supreme Court fetches them anywhere between 50000 INR to 200000 INR. Therefore, it would be in their interests to prolong cases as they do not have to read much. Same cases can feed them for more than 10 years. The time limit has to be defined so that the advocate is at risk of losing rights to practice.

Nice to know that you read about this story in the morning! They are not the people in authority, they are the cheaters who acquire the status of being powerful with the help of the people in power that is the politicians who give these powers in the form of wealth and security from the law fr their own interest! The politicians supporting them should also be punished who have boosted the morals for such cheap perverts @AlisaTR!
