Going backwards to go forwards

The photo is of our Fordson tractor and a three-point linkage scarifier. Someone is interested in buying the scarifier and as we have used it about once in our time here, we feel we might as well sell it. So we hooked it up today to take some photos of it. We had forgotten that really it is a bit heavy for our tractor. With so much weight on the back end, the tractor was hard to steer and the front wheels kept skidding sideways when Vince tried to turn left or right. We had to manoeuvre it in front of the shed and the only way to make it go where it needed to go was to go backwards turning left or right then drive more or less straight forward. Life wasn’t meant to be easy, was it?

There are times in life when one might indeed have to go backwards in order to move forward.

@vandana7 Do you have any plan to buy it? I know it can be repaired and make it as new then selling you will get more price.

Yeah..but whoever is interested in buying it is obviously well aware of all that and how to repair it to look good. We had a very old car, I was very fond of it. Then dad sold it. The person who bought it personally did a splendid job, and what we sold then for 3000 fetched him 10000.

My father has a big tractor like that and he took the old tires off and put new ones on that don’t have sand in the front tires so now it’s heavy on the back and doesn’t get good traction. He had to put a barely of water on there to weight it down but there’s little room to sit now. I think it was a great idea you selling it since you’ve only used it once all those years but it’s to heavy for your tractor.

@JudyEv lol I've always been very thin I'd never be chosen to weigh anything down. My dad always had to get my sister for the muscles or weight.

When I picked apples as a young person I rode home on the front of the tractor to add some weight as the crate of apples on the back was making the tractor lose traction. I've lost a bit of weight since then!

lol. well I guess then selling it will be a great idea.. it doesn't seem like it gets along with your tractor much.

Sorry I got that wrong. It's a Ford 3000 but there are plenty of Fordson tractors around here.

Have you watched runners at the Olympics? . They always take a step back before starting the race. Hope you will get a buyer for that.

It would be good to get rid of it really. It is being wasted here.

Another reason to sell it or you will be having to buy a bigger tractor.

My Dad had a Farmall tractor about that size. Your land is quite pretty.

It was very hard to attach it to the tractor to start with. They are not the easiest things to manoeuvre.

Three-point linkage machinery can be the very devil to put on the tractor. If you're not backed in squarely it can be very difficult. And the machine is too heavy to move by man/woman power.

They are very tricky to fit onto the tractor. I'd be glad to see the back of it.
