Plus and Minus

Plus: My sister shows up on Friday with: $165 pounds of meat, a cake (BD), several 12 and 6-packs of Boost (which I love), takes me to McDonalds Friday night, takes me to dinner at my favorite restaurant on Saturday night, takes me to Subway on Sunday and leaves Sunday night one day sooner than expected. Minus: She buys me a bunch of vitamins, body lotions, hair color, wrinkle creams and spends over $100; which I could care less about. We have several arguments; one of which being about the above 'minus' items. When she arrived, she had no sooner stepped one foot in the door and states, "I smell cigarette smoke." Now mind you I had busted my a** scrubbing, scouring, vacuuming, dusting, windexing, washing walls, spraying air freshener, etc for the entire week before she arrived and doing touch-ups on everything AGAIN starting at 7 am Friday morning. Needless to say; she's alive, I'm alive and we had a good time (sorta-kinda) and I don't have to see her again until Christmas. Oh....and at least I'm not bald.

Oh yeah @Marilynda1226 ; we've been at this since we were kids. What gets me is she'll say, "You know I love you" BUT; then the poop hits the fan.

You cannot mask the smell of smoke. As an old smoker I can feel the smell from miles.

@nanette64 I did not want to lose him due to my bad habit. I made a favor to all my family, I was the only smoker and also my Dad hated this habit.

@LadyDuck Out of all of us 6 kids, only 1 brother did not smoke. What's weird is that I even waited until I was 21 to even start; which was stupid.

@LadyDuck That's pretty impressive quiting just like that. I know my Mom had done that too when she met my Dad.

Sometimes a simple gift card sent with a BD card would be better than those cons no matter how much fun it was to visit. Just throwing an idea at ya, couldn't the two of you meet somewhere in the middle so that both of you are in different rooms in one of those Motel 6 dilly things?

Yup, I'd take the gift and BD card in a milli-second @rebelann . LOL on the 2 rooms. In my house the two main bedrooms are on opposite ends of the house.

Is she older or younger than you? The visit from your sister sounds like a split-decision. Some very good and some very annoying. If she is a big sister this quote by Charles Schultz fits perfectly. If not, just take off the "Big." Just kidding on the quote. From your post there is a lot of caring there "Big sisters are the crab grass in the lawn of life."

yeah, she does @mlgen1037 . We are just so dang opinionated about things, that that is what usually causes friction. She says, "You think you're always right about everything". And I say, "And you don't ever listen to anything I say."

@nanette64 Looks like I heard those lines. Basically just me and my sister. But you compromise at the end of the day.

Sometimes in life you have to take the Good along with the Bad and enjoy the times in between. Be Lucky you just got to see her.

At least you do have some kind of relationship with your sister. It sounds like she was trying to do all of that for you because in a way she feels guilty of something. I cannot say just sounds that way as you said all that she bought you did not make you particularly happy but she did it anyway. At least you have a sister since now I am all alone I would be happy to have a sibling.

I do love the brat @RasmaSandra . I'm just glad we see each other only twice a year though; otherwise we probably wouldn't communicate at all.

Well done the pair of you. You won't need to do much cleaning for a while now. She, no doubt, thinks she was very tolerant and forebearing.
