MyLotters Who Don't Know What To Write About vs. MyLotters Who Excrete A Post Nearly Every Hour

MyLot has no categories. If it had, I could count the posts dealing with the topic "I don't know what to write about". Tags aren't always used, so it's impossible to give a precise answer. Yet, it is clear that this category is one of the fullest. It's not only newbies who haven't understood yet what myLot is really about who write there. You can find such whiners also among oldies. Why people are on a writing site if they have no idea what to write about will remain a mystery to me. At the other end of the spectrum are the members who suffer from verbal diarrhea and excrete a post nearly every hour. I've just counted the contributions of one of those members. Sixteen! In one day! Most of these posts are of a shallowness that hurts. I bet that the member isn't the least bit interested in discussing the topics they bring up. They only jump here and there and back and forth looking for something that can be expressed in a sentence or two in order to earn some cents from the members who take them seriously and leave a comment. Of course, the majority of myLotters can be found somewhere in the middle. They're the ones who make the site worth coming to. --- Photo: pixabay When you write 'myLot' into the pixabay search box, you get pretty pics of Merlot grapes! :-)

I write very little, I often have time to come here, read some discussions and leave comments, but not enough to write something longer than two lines. I do not read everything posted here, I look at the tiles, but also at the names of the users. After three years I know which posts I like to read and which ones are not worth my time.

@LadyDuck well I fear that any such rule might restrict genuine people too. Buthe we can have a rule like no more than 10 new discussions a day or may be 8.

@MALUSE There are a few who write dozen of posts every day and they repeat the same questions every two or three days. I wonder if it's time to revise the rules here.

I'm also very selective. I've known some member names for years but after reading some of their posts, I know they're not for me and move on.

End of month always brings a rush of quick posts from those trying to make payout.

I've seen that happen when it's not the end of the month.

I started a discussion about my new job, I told what I do at my job, asking for some tips, maybe some experience, most of the responds were congratz for the new job... I will think about the congratz when I work, it can help. I think the need for some attention gives some motivation to write and respond, still the responds are short, not informative and repeat each other. There must be something more to change that, but how ? The first thing I do is to make sure I don't repeat someone else's respond, I try to bring some new ideas.

@MALUSE Thank you, that laudable attitude I express out loud (clearly) : it is just the Golden Rule (plus the mylot earning program FAQ). I recommend everyone to read the help section in the menu (one option above the log out at the bottom). This rule says it all, treat the others as you would like to be treated.

I am a guilty person who read your new job post and merely offered a congratz comment. I had nothing else to offer and at least you get a little earning by it rather than my leaving nothing. I have never worked as a security guard or any similar position so therefore have no tips or advice for you. That is probably the case with most here. You want superficial advice like always show up on time and don't fall asleep on the job? I understand your disappointment concerning response but you must consider relatability factor.

I wrote a similar post about this but I was not as blunt as you are. Anyway I hope yours does better than mine did. It started out great and stopped at 6 comments which is weird, almost seemed like I was being shut up by some means. No one wants to hear the truth nowadays. I am too appalled at what pasts for discussions here but I think it happens because it is encouraged and rewarded with earnings.

I can live with the label 'blunt'. Sugar coating is not my thing. I'm also often surprised that completely contentless posts get comments.

well said, now I don't know if I belong to the jumper to respond or to the one who takes them seriously and leave a comment and respond back and forth. but you know my point of view here, sometimes the discussion is the one interesting but the responses back and forth.

My last few have done pretty well. I don't post a lot and don't ask what to post anymore. It always gets this way at the end of the month. People decide they can make payout at the last minute and post one discussion after another, most of which I ignore. Sometimes, I answer, depending on the person.

I read one, maybe two discussions, each day of those who post excessively. And fancy myLot bringing up Merlot grapes. Oh, I've got it - it's the similar spelling I guess.

There are a few people who post one right after another. If I see somebody posting too many then I just scroll on by. I find it to be a bit annoying.

Another thing that annoys me is when people post one sentence discussions usually in the form of a question, asking people for their "thoughts and views" but never offering their own. Sorry, that's not a discussion. That's just hustling for pennies.

Personally how can someone post a New discussion every hr? Do they really have that exciting of a life that they need to share it that often? I am lucky most of the time if I post 3 new discussions a week if that.

@vandana7 I wrote a post some time ago. It got only few reads. Some people want to remain in the dark. What can I do?
When it comes to ‘its’ and ‘it’s’, reading around shows that the apostrophe is preferred where it shouldn’t be used. With ‘your v. you’re’ and ‘their v....

It should give you comfort that many native speakers of English don't know the language sufficiently, either. I didn't allow my pupils the basic mistakes many Americans and British people make on the site here.

To be honest I belong to the ones that set tons of topics. As a content creators We tend to do that a fair bit. It kind of drive interactions. Some forums do employ that so that everyone get something to post. If not the forum would just die off without too many people to start the threads. Of course I could be wrong. Right now I do post lesser content and more towards my own life. If people reply that will be great. If they don’t. I would be fine as well.

It is more of depth vs volume. It is difficult to achieve both at the same time. One with deep depth will definitely not have more activities while the more volume may not have that much depth. So depending on the forum direction, these can be adjusted accordingly
