Perfume or natural smell?

I like to wear a bit of perfume although some people prefer not to wear anything as they like a clean, natural smell. I know a woman who has never worn a deodorant as she says she doesn't need one although I have to wear one as I know I would smell if I didn't. I have even worn a little vanilla essence behind the ear and on the wrist as I think it smells lovely but what do you prefer? Do you wear an artificial fragrance or do you just stick to your natural body smell?

It's not what I like on myself. I dislike perfume on other people. I find it intrusive, especially when I have to be near them, for example in a lift or a train compartment.

@LadyDuck My mum wore Estee Lauder Youth Dew and it was so strong it used to make me car sick

@MALUSE I agree, a strong perfume is as aggressive as a bad smell.

I suffer from scent sensitivity. I prefer people to not wear a scent. It gives me headaches and makes breathing difficult. There are stores I can not enter, because of the perfume counter. I'm gasping for breath, even walking near.

That must be difficult. Do you tell people who visit not to wear perfume?

@Morleyhunt That must be quite awkward for you at times. I can imagine the other person might be embarrassed when they find out what they've done to you!

@sprite1950 most of my friends are aware....it's occasionally difficult when someone in line at the checkout has bathed in perfume. I stand their alternately gasping and holding my breath.

Perfume gives me headache, but I like a little "Eau de Cologne", is less intrusive. I wear deodorant every day.

I have to wear deodorant as I need it. I have some light body sprays that I sometimes wear.

@sprite1950 I would not feel comfortable not wearing a deodorant, particularly in summer.

@sprite1950 during autumn and winter I don't need deodorant and I only use natural deodorants as I am allergic to those with many chemicals.

I can not bear a strong smelling perfume. In fact even a mild smell for a prolonged time causes some sort of discomfort and headache. I just stay away from them.

@arunima25 It can make me quite ill sometimes especially if it is a fragrance that I don't like.

I too think I stink. So I do use powder subtly. As Maluse has pointed out..some don't like it. They wouldn't know I have used powder. Only that much.

There is nothing called natural smell. When someone bathes the smell will be that of shampoo and soap. Our bodies have smell depending on what we eat and so on. Have you tried eating fenugreek? Your sweat will smell of fenugreek. I wear a light perfume when I go out and use talcum powder after my bath.

People do seem to have certain body smells which are unique to them. I remember the smell of my children's dad, I loved it, but I don't remember him smelling perfumed in any way.

I wear a deodorant without fragrance. I'm allergic to fragrance unless it's mild natural ones. Anything with chemicals make me sneeze.

I wear cologne. Although, I wear cheap cologne. But I swear people can't tell the difference. I get mine at the Dollar Tree and pay $1 a bottle. Even a cheap $1 fragrance probably smells better than me. lol
