In India Moon is personified: 1. he is maternal uncle of every Hindu person. 2. He is the admirer by a of a bird known as 'Chakor'! 3. The beauty of women is always compared with moon in India. 4. The moon is considered to be ultimate beauty with a defect of a patch on its face. 5. Mothers often call their kids as Moon and also as the Sun! these are some common things prevailing in India...may be they can be many more in literature @april_ang ! Thanks!

@april_ang , Thanks a lot for the appreciation ! It is believed that it is the duty of Sun to give light during day time and it is the duty of the Moon to give light during night time.So after the night it is presumed that Moon has gone home and taking rest to come out again in the evening!

They say that a full moon brings out strange things. It keeps the cops busy. The moon is supposed to be for lovers holding hands in the moonlight. We say the moon is made of green cheese and there is a man in the moon.

Everybody knows that earth’s only satellite does not, in fact, consist of fatty dairy products. So where did the myth that the moon is made of cheese come from in the first place?

I just remembered some things about the full moon. Werewolves change into their real forms when the moon is full. Lunatics are people who are influenced by the moon. The word lunatic has come to mean a person who acts erratically or behaves in a peculiar way. The moon controls the tides of oceans and large bodies of water.
