He finally showed up and I don't think she is happy

A female mallard duck swooped down into the pool with a splash yesterday. She probably thought it was a duck pond maybe because it looked that way. Due to the late start of spring, the pool is still covered and there is some water and leaves on the cover so I can understand this duck's confusion.
She had a swim, perched at the top, groomed herself for about a good thirty minutes then she waited, and waited as if she was waiting for her partner. We kept our distance while doing our yard work and she seemed fine with us in the background. After sunbathing, swimming, waiting and just hanging out for half the day, she decided to take off.
This morning she was back but she was not alone this time. Her partner finally arrived but they seem like an old married couple hanging out at the edge of the pool, not talking to each other. Could she be upset with him for his late arrival? Have you ever been kept waiting and how would you react?

I would not be talking to him either, I am quite punctual.

It is like I am watching a love story and both of them are the main characters and they have some love-hate relationship unfolding.

That is a great description. Just hope they resolve their issues and leave my yard so I can get on with my chores.

Great photos. I hope the duck pair make up their differences. Still, it is nice that they are together. I remember in my younger days once or twice having to meet someone and waiting so long that one time I gave up and went home and one time I had a lot to say when the guy finally did show up.

One of my biggest pet peeves is waiting whether in line or for someone.
