Sexism At Bass Pro Shop

You can learn lessons everywhere you go. One such lesson came to me the other day at Bass Pro Shop. There’s a BPS across the street from where I bought my car. I had to have a new air conditioner compressor put on the car (under warranty, so a big goose egg on the cost to me), so I walked over to pass the time while they did the repair. Now, if you’ve ever been to a Bass Pro Shop you know they have all those fishing boats sitting outside (not to mention a boat shop inside....ours is big enough to have an indoor showroom!). It’s not that I enjoy fishing (I fished quite a bit as a kid, but I found it boring, not to mention that I don’t like fish as a food), so I’m not deliberately searching these things out. It just jumped out at me. Those fishing boats are so sexist. Now, we have a “sport, boat, RV, and vacation show” every January here. They have nice houseboats and pleasure boats on display along with the fishing boats. There you’ll see the difference and the sexism. There aren’t any, ahem, “restroom facilities” on a fishing boat. Hopefully the picture has already displayed in your mind, but in case it hasn’t, let me attempt to say this tactfully: can women “go over the side of the boat” the way the men can??! Sexist pigs. Hope you enjoy the chuckle. Don’t take it seriously, it’s a joke. If you don’t enjoy the joke, enjoy this Hank Locklin song about going fishing, as in going fishing and not a euphemism for “something else”:

You can now buy a 'shewee' which would enable a woman to 'go over the side' if one felt so inclined.

I've actually tried one of those. I'm thinking a man designed them because they don't "fit a woman" all that well. The truth is I have a funnel now that works infinitely better.
