Right foot, left foot, which sock first?

A funny thought crossed my mind as I was putting on sox and shoes this morning. I realized that I always put my left foot sock on first, then my right and then my left shoe. I have noticed that if I somehow begin the process with my right foot it feels a bit off. Then I wondered about the word sox. Is it socks instead? I looked it up and found that sox is defined as the plural of sock. But then so is socks. Preference? Maybe my getting my sock on my left foot first is a touch of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anne would say) or just the result of a lifetime habit. Then I wondered about you myLotters too. Do you always put the first sock on one foot or the other or is just happenstance depending on which leg you bend first?

I always put on my right one. Could it be because I´m left handed?

@marguicha There is only one real way, right? Over the top?

That could be, I suppose. The reasons seem nebulous.

My sister-in-law had issues with her back recently to the point where her husband had to help her on with slacks. He quickly learnt that one leg was always put in first but I can't remember which leg.For me it's always right foot first. I have no idea why.

Well, now I wonder if it has anything to do with the down under part and gravity, not to mention string theory (what ever that is).

Basically for the reason known the the God! I as far as my best of my knowledge most of us are right handed...and so while walking the left leg is a leading leg, as they move. And hand move in opposite direction while moving ....so since I am a right handed person I like to wear my sock in my left foot first! Thanks @JamesHxstatic

I’ve noticed recently I do left sock and shoe then right sock and shoe. I’m not sure if I always did that or if it’s just since I was wearing an air cast then a special brace on the right since I broke my ankle.

Exactly like @Marilynda1225, I am right handed and I put my right sock on first and also my right shoe first. I have to check what my husband does, he is left handed. I never paid attention.

Hmmm, so the each sock fits a certain foot? I was wondering if anyone had foot-specific sox.

@JamesHxstatic - After I thought about it, I realized that I put my left sock on first. I usually write socks, but it is interesting to know that sox is a correct spelling, too!

Nope, I do this exact same thing, each time. Not that I'm an expert who knows for sure! OCD is maybe a part of it, just a habit that we repeat, over and over again. Sox, socks, I guess the English language has a million odd, innerchangable words and nobody knows why!
