An Interesting Problem that I Can't Explain

For a couple of recent, not published posts I've tried posting here I've encountered an interesting problem. Maybe someone can tell me why this is happening? I've written two posts about Charlie, our new kitty, and tried using photos taken on my phone. Both times the photo has appeared upside down! I'll include one with this post to see if it still happens. This one is of Charlie curled up in a wee basket on my coffee table. On both occasions the image I've uploaded has appeared upside down, so I've deleted them immediately, not knowing any other way of solving the problem. Can anyone suggest why this is happening?

I experience it also. I think it has something to do with resolution. When I post from my phone, that happens. So I usually crop it and resize it in laptop.

Okay, I'll see if I can do that. Glad I'm not the only one. Thanks.

Photos taken using a cell phone meet with this fate (lol). May be you can go to Paint and use the rotate option there.

@valmnz When I receive photos from others in that state I use rotate from Paint and set it right. I have done yours

@valmnz What is cropping. According to me it is trimming photos

No, rotating didn't work, but cropping did. I've not had this problem with my phone photos till now. At least I now know what to do when it happens.

I would try first rotating it in my laptop but I am not sure that it will work or if there is any way to rotate the pic anyways.

Thanks, it seems rotating may be the answer. But I have no idea why it's started doing this.

When it happens, crop and resize the image, this always solve the problem.

I don't take pictures with my phone, however, I just found the reason my pictures were sideways and I couldn't fix them, they're now fixed. Do you have an auto rotate feature on your phone that will correct that issue?

I have no idea about the phone question! But in this case cropping did the trick.

I think the picture editor can adjust or rotate the picture. You can have a try. If you don't have a picture editor, you can download one.

It could be the orientation of the photo in the phone. Every once in a while I have one where it records the orientation incorrectly because I was holding my phone at an odd angle when I took it. Try rotating it before uploading and see if that does the trick, especially if it's only doing it on horizontal images like this one. You should be able to just flip it 90 degrees one way, then back again.

@yukimon I did finally solve it through one of the suggestions of cropping - see next post! But I now also think you may have something about the angle I was holding the phone.

Why does this happen? Well, it's easy to explain. You 're an Antipodean, aren't you? We, in the Northern hemisphere, know that everything is upside down in your part of the world. :-)

I've seen the photo of Charlie right way up and he is a very cute little cat. He looks as though he has settled in okay.

No and neither have I. I often use photos take on my phone, but these latest ones have had minds of their own.

He spends enough of his time in strange places without being upside down as well
