Here we are at another Monday

Eugene, Oregon
May 7, 2018 10:25am CST
I never liked Mondays when I was a working person, but even being retired they have their own unique quality. For instance, there is an (even) older guy who drives around our community picking up newspapers every Monday to recycle. Most residents participate since all you have to do is leave a sack on the curb. Monday is ping pong day for me and a dozen other people here. We meet at one and play doubles for two hours, so any chores assigned to me by Anne must be done before lunch. Which reminds me, it is 8:15; I have not had breakfast and I just know that when Anne gets through with her crossword puzzle, she will have a list of "to dos " for me to accomplish today. I need to practice my "Domani" speech. I should not have read her that post by @JudyEv about making long lists for Vince so he could pick and choose. Mondays are like that. How is your Monday?

I never liked Mondays a lot, it is still not my favorite day of the week. Well, ping-pong day sounds interesting, I think that Anne will not complain if there is something you cannot complete before lunch.

Haha. Did you think you had a choice before you read that post? Enjoy your ping pong. I gather your gout has cleared up now?

I did sort of think I might have one. That and the Achilles tendon are fine now. I have my energy and my appetite back too.

@JudyEv Gentle! I was working like a dog out there for two hours. But she made me a ham sandwich while I showered so I would not be late for ping pong. I played well too!

@JamesHxstatic That's good and I'm sure a little gentle exercise doing a few small chores won't hurt.

@JamesHxstatic Thank you! It lifted my depression, since all we've had since our return home was bad news.

Now that I am not working, I kind of like Mondays cause there's a seriousness about them and a certain quiet when everyone goes back to work.

Yes, I recall that too, but often people are quiet then due to the stresses they face with a new week.

You need to help your sweet wife. My husband helps me with everything unless he is helping his cousin repair a rental house. Which is ok that is extra cash we do not have to claim.

That was pretty tongue in cheek. We do share most chores, including cooking.

@JamesHxstatic I know what you are saying when Monday would role around I would dread it too having to go to work. Here in Israel it Sunday starts our work week and people dread that day. People that observe our Sabbath just have a little bit of Friday except in winter our Sabbath comes in earlier so very little Friday and no Saturday and then Sunday work day again. We used to have a ping pong table in our basement in the house I grew up in in Minneapolis. I have not played in ages and not sure I coudl anymore.
