Diary Monday 7th May 2018 Britain moves the Mayday celebrations from the 1st of May to the next available Monday, which this year makes May 7th a national bank holiday. The weather was glorious, the tail end of a heatwave worthy of mid-Summer. I made the most of the opportunity to put some laundry outside to dry and went out shopping, going for the first time this year without a coat on. I bought some train ticket online for a trip to Manchester coming up on Saturday. Diary Tuesday 8th May 2018 Not as warm out and rather cloudy too. It rained a little later in the day. I caught up with some mail, edited some photos for my pub sign book project and picked up the train tickets I bought yesterday from the railway station. I called to the university to pick up a few movie to review for the voluntary work film festival I am helping out with and prepared for tomorrow’s meeting with my welfare advisor. Arthur Chappell

What sort of work do you do for the film festival?

@allen0187 currently reviewing movies for consideration as possible screening material. Later I'll be helping create publicity material and giving interviews on radio to promote the event and helping organize speakers, guests for the event itself too

@arthurchappell Wouldn't it be great if you could find work in this area? You must be getting a lot of experience under your belt now.

We are having a strong thunderstorm right now. The morning are glorious and at mid-afternoon we have a thunderstorm. What you do for the film festival is very interesting.

I missed the Bank Holiday. I'm hoping the one at the end of the month is just as glorious!

It saves a lot of money and trouble being able to put laundry out.

The welfare meetings come up with monotonous regularity, don't they?

yes, on average every fortnight, but sometimes weekly. They could demand to see me daily if they chose to

@JudyEv they would have me search on their computers under their supervision. They have the right to do it but they are too under-resourced to enforce it

@arthurchappell How would you find time to job search if you had to visit them every day. It's pretty crazy.

Heat wave, what was it 85, been 95 plus here since I wrote about it being cold. Jinxed us all. I know it is weird how we are climatized to our own weather and we all know when something is different. That is cool about the movies. Is that the university you went to?

Weather is getting nicer where I am at as well, and it's been wonderful to have the windows open. The house gets so stuffy during the winter all closed up. Unfortunately soon we'll likely have to close it up again and kick the air on.
