I often wonder when read that someone has had a bad life and they turn to crime and then another person that had also had a bad life turns out ok. What determines how someone will turn out. I often wondered about that. What do you think here about it? I would love to hear your opinions on it?

Hi Hanni. People have choices. Some people chose to be something else and blame somebody for what they have become.

There's the easy way or the hard way. The easy way is to get into trouble and crime because you think you have it so hard. The hard way is with determination to make life the best you can.

@Hannihar My life wasn't easy. Still isn't. But I don't sing the woes. I'm determined to make the best of my life.

I think it's just what they have inside them. How they want to change that makes them go on to lead a better life then they were. The ones who get worse don't usually have it in them to think positively and aren't motivated.

I have wondered about that too.. Maybe combinations of genetics and childhood experiences.. I’ve heard stories of abandoned abused children and yet they grew up successful .. Some who were well provided for and got everything they needed and want turned out homeless in their old age..

@epiffanie Bess, I also believe influence from people has something to do with what path they will take.

I think some just wrong choices, and then you can't undo what has been done.

@CookieMonster46 Love your profile picture. I also like cookie monster. I believe someone can start out bad and then they still can turn it around and change to be a better person. They have to want to be one.

Actually that is a good point. Is it something in personality? (Nature) Since both examples come from a bad life - in that case - it rules out environment (Nurture) THe age old psychology debate of nature vs. nurture

I think it has a lot to do with their environment and peers. Stupidity, too.

It depends on the person I guess, some are strong enough and take the bad to make themselves stronger, others use the bad as an excuse to do what they want and blame it all on their bad lives.

I guess mostly it just depends on their personality and how they handle all the challenges life throws at them. Some are able to ride above their misfortune but others get drowned by it.
