Still Trying to Figure Out Why Instagram Is So Popular

@bagarad Yes, you can post a lot of photos on Facebook too, but it's not as neat as Instagram.

But you can use photos on Facebook, too, and add as many words as you want -- or not.

I agree. A picture can paint a thousand words.

But sometimes theres nothing to say everyday to Facebook ~ would rather post a photo.

I like it less every time I use it. I don't know why they don't allow posting from computers.

@LadyDuck I guess they don't want anyone but the young or technically nimble to use their site.

@bagarad This is why I never use it, I love to use my computer and I hate phones.

So do you use your phone mainly for voice calls and texting?

@cintol Sometimes these programs take you what is technically the shortest way, but not the best way. Example. When we were visiting a friend in Eugene, Oregon, we wanted to go to Costco after we left here house. Her husband looked up the route we should take and printed the directions for us. I am quite sure that there must have been a way to get there that did not go mostly through residential neighborhoods where few intersections even had four-way stops, let alone traffic lights. Those directions might have been OK for locals, but for those of us in new territory it was very hard.

@bagarad Yep, thats about all I use it for, I have used the GPS on it a few times but today I did something wrong on that and my grand daughter and I ended up in Oklahoma, we turned around and she laughed saying we were on an adventure. I am not good with this phone yet! lol

I like Twitter. It's easy to come and go as you please.

@bagarad That's good to know. If/when I join, I will find you, okay? Glad to know I'll have at least one friend on there. And then I'll just look for other myLot members and after that just follow everyone in my nearby area/city. Why not? I don't know how the heck else to find people to follow, so I figure that's a pretty good plan.

Ok. How about a post on how to sell products with Instagram? That's the main reason I joined.

Exactly! I can see why people with businesses are on it who want to show off their product, though.

How do you add the hashtags? When I tried it on one photo today it added a big tag right in the middle of my photo. So I deleted the post. Then I uploaded one photo I took looking out my office window and tried adding the tags to the end of my caption. I don't know what the right way is to do it.

I don't enter any contests.

It does my heart good to see that I'm not the only one in the online world that doesn't like it.

@wolfgirl569 I now enjoy Twitter. Posts can be short and sweet and I'm actually getting to know a few people there. It's a great place for me to get information the news won't give me, right down to local traffic jams to avoid. You just have to follow the right people and avoid the fakes. I have a special list of prominent people I call VIP. I don't even have to follow them if they are on my list. I only have to go to the feed for my list and see most of what I want to see without all the stuff I don't care about.

@bagarad I have a twitter account and never use it. I have tried but just cant get into it

It is so nice to know that I'm not the only left who's not in Instagram.

@bagarad I don't do FB either but Vince has an account. I can see quite a few benefits to it now but I'm still not fussed about becoming part of it.

Who are you on twitter? I'd like to follow you. What do you like to post about most? I have to know that to know which account to follow you with.

@anikoonline I guess I don't have time to look at photos for their own sake. I'm always looking for photos to use in writing.

Same here. It's much easier to explain a photo on Facebook.

Maybe that's why they don't want us posting from computers. Maybe they don't want the two sites to compete with each other. Or maybe they own stock in cellular phone companies and want us all to buy phones.

I tried again this morning and I'm even more confused than before. Don't know how to dismiss my keyboard when I finish writing or editing a comment. Don't know which of two apps I'm using both on my phone. Or maybe one is just my browser. One icon is brightly colored and one looks more faded.

Like what option? And how do you post hashtags? How about links?

Why do you say that? I don't think it makes me look cuter.

I would never advise you to get one.

At least you can post to Pinterest from a computer.
