Keeping your money secure

At busy times of the year there are plenty of experienced pick pockets about. I usually keep my bags zipped up at all times unless I need my money as I was the victim of a pickpocket once who stole my wallet with all my money in it. I learned from this experience, I was too careless and left my bag open with my wallet on view so it was easy for someone to steal from me. I've even seen some people put their wallet or phone in their back pocket for everyone to see which would be such an easy target for a thief. Has this ever happened to you or are you careful?

I keep my wallet in my bag and the bag zipped all the time. Nobody ever stole my walled, but I was attacked and two guys stole my bag.

Yes it's harder to keep hold of your bag if a man is stronger than you. That must have been terrifying.

I would never use a handbag that does not zip closed, and when I am in the supermarket I loop the handles (long straps) of my handbag through the trolley and hook the bag through them so that it can't be lifted without unhooking the handles.

That's a really good idea. I see people in supermarkets who turn away leaving their bag unguarded while they are looking on the shelves.

@lynnief Well I had a family member who stole all his life so I am naturally suspicious!

@sprite1950 Yes, I often look at them and think they are leaving themselves wide open. I guess most people are just naturally trusting.

I have not had this happen yet. But I constantly check to make sure my wallet is in my back pocket. Especially when I am in close quarters.

@porwest Right, here we have a difference in language. A purse over here is the same as a wallet, the bag you carry the wallet in and refer to as a purse is a handbag .. I had my purse stolen from my handbag as I didn't keep it zipped up.

I keep my money in my wallet and keep it in an inner pocket with zipper in. Bag. I also have a purse with a few bills and coins for my transportation fare. If I have a back pack, I have a small sling bad that keeps my money. There are really lots of pickpockets

I'm yet a victim of a pickpocket... I travel everyday from home to work but I don't bring extra cash. I ride my motorcycle though. On weekends, whenever I go out to buy something, I don't ride my motorcycle. I use the public transportation. I usually bring just a wallet with me in my pocket. I usually wear cargo shorts and I place my wallet on the bottom pocket which usually have a zipper or a button to close it.

I have but the funny thing is she threw it back at me you know why because it was empty . She was so angry and threw it back at me and I never knew it coz I was carrying my son and my slingbag was way open for her to see the expensive wallet I I didn't even understand what she was saying until I reach my car

I am always careful when I walk on the sidewalk or just outside. I always would keep my bag close to my body and see to that it's zipped. I don't have my phone just displayed in my hand when not in use. ANd when I use it, I see to it that I am not in a place where it could easily be snatched from me. Nowadays, we have to be very careful with our things. That is why, their safety, as well as mine, are always included in my prayer.
