This is a free image from WalMart.com. It looks identical to my first pineapple tool, although I had purchased it at Aldi. I think I left my first one at the college kitchen where I worked for a month. I did not find this one, but one with a green and white handle. The way this tool works is that you slice the top off the pineapple, then stand it upright.Next you put the tool on top. It has a hollow cylinder that goes over the pineapple core. Using the handle you twist it clockwise. On the bottom is a disk with a slit that is sharp like a blade. You twist until the cylinder reaches the bottom and you can pull out of the pineapple. Once pulled out, the handle can be removed. Then slide the spiral cut pineapple into a dish. I cut the sides of the peel and slice out any remaining thick places to put in cold drinks. I use the handle of a wooden spoon to push out the core. One time someone on here told me that they boil the core with sugar water to make a sweetened fruit drink. I just put mine in my water glass, with no sweetening. I love this tool.

This tool is something I won't ever need since none of my family likes pineapple. I'm glad it makes things easier for you though! =)

Thanks. Fresh tastes so much better than canned, but if you guys don't like it that is okay too.

Wow I've never seen one of those before! I've always just cut up the pineapple by hand. I'll have to keep an eye out for one!

I have seen this tool via the net but I am not sure whether it works well. I ever considered to buy it but then I give it up. As usually the sellers will help to peel the pineapple here

We pay premium prices if the stores do the peeling here.

@GardenGerty Here if I buy the pineapple from the fruit seller, usually the peeling is free of charge. Very occasionally they don't peel and then I will not buy there and I will buy the pineapple from others who will peel for me

I need one of those! I also boil the core, I try to waste nothing since pineapples are so expensive.

I have a fresh pineapple to tackle in a little while. I had no idea that they made a special tool for cutting them up. Interesting.
