Some celebrity here in India just got married to his long time live in partner. The news has it they will soon by going on their honeymoon, Honeymoon according to me is to get to know each other and live in couples surely have gone beyond that. Honeymoon for live in couples therefore, is kind of odd to me. What is your opinion?

@allknowing Honeymoon is really meant for newly weds, and since those already living together are in reality already married in all but name I consider their honeymoon to be just a holiday.

What is honeymoon to you?

A honeymoon to me is so that two people can get away together and be alone. Like away from where friends and family are. You two get away together and have your intimacy and start your new life together. However, it did originate as a "bridal tour", where the couple and even friends and family would go with to visit other relatives and or friends who couldn't be at the wedding!

But those who have lived in together have no reason for that. Agreed? (lol) That is interesting about family going joining them. Never heard of that.

My husband and I lived together for four years before getting married. I know it is not the typical set-up and we immediately decided to get married after saving up for our marriage.

That is the trend these days. I was only talking of those who spend time together for years have no need to go on a honeymoon

@mlgen1037 When you know each other well there is no need for a honey moon but you could go on a holiday. Honeymoon is meant to get to know each other.

If they haven't yet travelled together, the honeymoon may mean the honeymoon will soon be over. Travel can often be stressful. Or this may just be an excuse for the couple to take a vacation.

As an Asian person, I think it is not appropriate. But I don't have a low opinion about it.

You have a point here. Anyway, it is a good thing that they finally get together legally. Wish them happiness.

Honeymooning is for those who get an opportunity to get to know each other. Those who have had a live in relationship this kind of outing is not required. They could perhaps go on a holiday

To me a honeymoon is a celebration of marriage and a brief fun time to build first memories as a couple. I never went on a honeymoon! :(
