why are people addicted to football?

Sports is very interesting. The cheering, the skills, the winning etc is something worth watching. I see guys mostly,arguing football, spending their fortune on it, ready to fight for their favorite player.
Though, there are many things that people are addicted to, of which of which most of them I can really understand why. But that of foot ball can't I explain. When am with the remote I speedily scroll pass super sports channels. So, it baffles me when people can't eat nor sleep when there is a match or when their club loses a match.
May I get answers to these questions?
• Why are people addicted to watching football?
• Why do they want to die for their favorite players?
•What's your favorite club and player?

I don´t think that anyone wants to DIE for their favorite players, but there is such a thing as being a fan of them. It also happens with music, with celebrities of any sort, even with ballet dancers for some people.

If you play, you will want to see how others play, there will be a certain team which style will attact you. Then you will start to expand your league. Eventually when football betting is allowed, you will be find yourself into it for ego.
I don't die for my favourite players.
My favourite team is Arsenal and Juventus. My favourite player is Del Piero.
