Who thinks the extent of technology is just sad?

My math professor could not perform 27-8 this afternoon without a calculator.
This is a probability and statistics course. I think it just goes to show how much we rely on technology. Do you rely on it? Any other experiences that you might have that relate to this? What could be done to solve this issue?

yeah i agree, we r usin less and less of our brain and dependin more and technology,

I agree with you. My children are still in primary (grade) school but they use calculators all the time. My daughter starts high school next year and her english is starting to suffer as well because she sms all the time using shortened words etc. I think the basics are being forgotten in school a bit because there is so much emphasis on technology education.
