Previously on 'Still Stoned': Last October WorDazza was struck down with a kidney stone. A CT Scan in late November revealed it to be still present. All 2.5mm of it. With no sign of it having passed naturally our hero is summoned once again to the hospital. Episode 2: WorDazza arrives in good time, at Urology outpatients, and is immediately summoned to give a urine sample which this time he provides with ease, not falling into the same trap as last time when he relieved himself immediately prior to leaving for the hospital and was only able to provide a sample some 1 hour and 15 minutes (and about a gallon of water) after arrival. After a brief chat with the consultant, who confirmed nothing sinister in the sample, our hero is sent to the x-ray department to confirm the presence, or otherwise of the calcified interloper. On arriving at the x-ray department he is informed that there is no record of him on the system and maybe he should be at the other x-ray department (2 x-ray departments!! That's just showing off!). Same story at the other x-ray department so WorDazza trudges back to Urology outpatients to see WTF is going on. After 15 minutes a smiley nurse informs our hero that the consultant got distracted (probably counting his money!!) and forgot to add me to the system!! But that's OK, the nurse was smiley!!! Back in x-ray and WorDazza is taken into a small room before being stripped and made to wear a rather unflattering gown!! Let's hope Meghan's does more for her than this did for me!! It's fortunate that our hero is not claustrophobic as the short wait he was promised turned slowly into 30 minutes. In a room the size of a toilet cubicle! With no windows!! Long past the point he thought he was the subject of a Twilight Zone episode and was being left to die in a tiny room, and just before the point he was about to attract attention to his continued presence and knock on the door asking if they had any more toilet paper, he was saved. Total time walking around the hospital trying to get onto the system and waiting around in dreary, unflattering fashion, 1 hour. Total x-ray time, 30 seconds!!! Coming up on 'Still Stoned': WorDazza finds out if he is indeed 'Still Stoned' and requires the insertion of medical equipment into places nothing (and I mean NOTHING!!) should be inserted. EVER!! Stay tuned!!

@wordazza Oh the undignified gown that doesn’t go all the way round. When I went for review after a kidney stone I was sterling myself in preparation for getting my stuff thoroughly examined and when the doctor walked in he was a woman. She told me to lie back and undo my trousers then reached inside them and pulled everything out for a good going over. Then she tucked everything away again and told me I was fine. I’m still in shock.

In my early 20s I avoided going to the doctor with a delicate problem for months because my doctor was an absolutely stunning women in her late 20s. I wasn't convinced of my self-control if she started examining certain parts. I eventually plucked up the courage to go and when i turned up she was off sick and I was examined by some grizzled old bloke. Now that would have been more worrying if my self-control let me down!!!

@WorDazza every boy’s nightmare. The worst is being asked at such an examination ‘would you prefer a male doctor to examine you sir?’ You’re screwed (not literally of course) no matter what you answer.

@xFiacre I normally just say 'whoever's available'. Hopefully that comes across as 'Just get someone in here and examine me so I can get this over with' rather than anything remotely pervy!!

You and me both!! I just hope any 'procedure' will be non-invasive. I'd rather not have certain bits invaded!!

I know I shouldn't laugh because kidney stones are really painful but that last paragraph had me falling about! I really hope they manage to sort you out so that you will be pain free.

@WorDazza You would think that a developed country like the UK would have less of a waiting list. In Spain it is much quicker. My partner's brother had cancer. He went to the doctor and the next day he was in for surgery. Why can't we be like that?

@sprite1950 I couldn't begin to guess at the inner workings of the NHS. It just seems like no matter how much money is thrown at it, it gets no better!!

I hate hospital visits, especially when you are in pain and being made to wait. Last year I went through a similar drama , thankfully my sons credentials saved me.

@WorDazza Wow, that is great, so you aren't really 'stoned' now . LOL. Yes he is, and that gets me some special treatment at times.

Thankfully the x-ray showed that I must have passed the stone naturally so all is good. Is your son a doctor?

@DianneN My father had a couple of kidney stone episodes during his life. First one he passed naturally, the second was blasted. He said the latter option was by far the most preferable!!!

Ta! I'm hoping if the little bugger is still in there they'll give it an ultrasonic blast to break it into tiny, more passable, pieces so hopefully no invasions necessary!!!!

That must be a saga of the ages in your life. How's the hero doing lately? Lots of love and care?

The hero is bearing up in an incredibly brave fashion. Yes, kidney stones probably are a sign that I'm getting old!! Apparently once you've had one kidney stone you are highly likely to get another at some point in your life. My father had one round about my age then another one in his 60s. Looks like it runs in the family!!

Oh my...so you have been eating stones and they have been tromping your inner parts to show their anger...hmmm...at least you got away with noticing a smiley nurse...without wife giving you the glares. Not everybody is that fortunate you know.

@WorDazza I have often wondered if the stones are not hardened excrement of animal world. But that would be a gross thought. LOL As to the smiley nurse, I feel at least she was happy to be serving handsome person for a change. And you are not being honest are you WorDazza. Why? Are you afraid? Is Mrs. WorDazza snooping? I will let her know without her putting in that effort, don't you worry.

As a herbivore it is helpful to swallow a few stones to grind down the copious amounts of plants that enter my stomach Mrs WorDazza wasn't there so couldn't see me!!! In any case I wasn't happy that the nurse was all smiley after having me chase around the hospital in vain!!

@vandana7 Definitely gross!!! I'll stick with the actual cause which is just the build up of calcium and salts that haven't been flushed out of your system. Insufficient hydration is often the cause of this!!

I hope you are able to avoid insertion. I'm glad you were not part of a secret plan to sacrifice kidney stone sufferers to swamp monsters, aliens, or deities I haven't hear of.

Oh no, this is a bit too much information I think. I'm glad you're breaking it down into 'bits'. There is a morbid fascination in reading about other people's misfortunes.

Let's hope it has broken down into bits!! I'm not hopeful. I'm not aware of it having passed so i suspect i may be subject to some form of 'procedure'!!!

@JudyEv Still no word as yet!! I'm hoping if a procedure is necessary it will be of the non-invasive ultra-sonic zapping variety!!

Funny! I don't know if the hero was funny or the writer was funny! I am still chuckling. I am more fortunate. when I went to do a gall badder CT scan I got a gown that wrap twice around me. Phew! I got attended immediately and the only painful thing was the dye (Ithink) they injected into my bloodstream. Have you tries alternative medicine for the kidney stone? My brother took some natural herb and juices and passed out his, when the doctor said it was not possible.

@WorDazza Even if the stones are not there, some preventative measures can be helpful. Kidney stones also requires some lifestyle changes. it's never later to adjust a bit.

@Gita17112016 I think I'm just susceptible to them. My father had a few during his life and that is usually a sign you're going to get them. Most of the lifestyle advice I already follow so I think I'm just going to have to prepare myself for repeated episodes.
