Darn my deer friends!

I have a few plants growing in pots on my boyfriend's patio. There isn't too much space for planting in the ground around his house as he has a lot of rocks stacked up to keep the weeds at bay. He has one rose bush that is planted in the ground just under a pine tree, I don't know how come it's still growing as it doesn't get much water (even less since the hose blew up Monday). Anyhow we went on our usual security ride yesterday and when we got home I noticed that the potted plants looked different. I took a closer look and I'll be darned if the deer haven't been munching the plants! Drat!!!! It's a good thing we're going to town today, I can pick up some nylon net to cover the plants with so the deer won't munch them down to nothing. They, fortunately, don't like the catnip. But the geraniums and the other ugly plant I picked up at the fund raiser in Gilroy a few weeks ago are fair game to them. Although they sampled the geraniums and didn't really like them that much so maybe they're safe until I get the nylon net over them. For my fellow gardeners, I discovered that nylon net is an expensive way to keep deer out of my plants. It's under a dollar a yard and you can cover your plants and still see them through the netting...and still water them through the netting too. The deer can't get through the net to the plants either. I discovered that about 15 years ago and have used nylon net ever since to protect my plants. Now if it would only work for that hose!

Hi Toni. What happened to the hose?
