At a banguet given in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on May 16,1929 the first Academ Awards were presented. In the year 2016 the Academy spent a whopping $44 million on the Awards. During the show a 30 second commercial on ABC cost $2.6 million.
Attendees spend an average of $1.5 million on their ensembles with $10 million being the most ever spent.
The show usually averages about the same amount of viewers as the Super Bowl. That's about 50 million.
In 1974 Tatum O'Neal won the "Best Supporting Actress" Oscar for her work in Paper Moon. Christopher Plummer won the "Best Supporting Actor" Oscar in 2012 at the age of 82.

I have been to the Roosevelt many times. The banquet room is still there.
