What Would You Put In Your Emergency Disaster Kit?

If you had to stock an emergency disaster kit what would you put in it? There's a lot of talk about this since there are so many disasters at any given time taking place globally. But to stock your kit, you'd have to think of the most important things for safety and survival. My problem is I'd think of too many things and want to stash all kinds of food and painkillers, etc. And then I'd worry about the dates expiring too. Then what- eat and drink all your perishable things that have expiry dates and get new ones? That could be one heck of a party! So- It's not as easy as they think. Yes, you'd have to "Update" your stock and emergency stash from time to time which could be very costly. I know a few things I'd stock-- clean socks and underwear,a rain coat, bottles of water and soups- and of course chocolate for boredom and nut and other proteins for strength. And did I say chocolate? Then you'd have to have some painkillers like Tylenol, Aspirin, and Advil and of course a few bottles of wine for medicinal purposes. And then where do you put all this stuff? I live in a small condo so I'd have a hard time stashing it. Yes it is a great deal of trouble, isn't it? Think I'll just take my chances--haha!

@sueznewz2 Yep- just don't put "War and Peace' in your kit-- ha! You'd never have the time for that!

I like to keep some canned goods on hand as well as bottled water and Advil. Batteries and flashlights too.

@MarymargII granola bars are a good idea. I probably should have included some sort of first aid kit and a blanket or two etc. So many things to have on hand for an emergency. Guess I haven't given it as much thought as I should have

@Marilynda1225 I know once you start thinking about it it's more difficult than you think. For me the problem will be storing it-haha!

That's sensible- I would include all of those plus granola bars, etc.

You've listed a lot of what we have in our kit, we also have a first aid kit, towels and blankets and a flashlight, some rope and some word search puzzle books.

I have all of that already in my stock pile, I am always using the oldest first. I would stay home because I home can much of my food. I also stock pile coffee, yes I rotate as I buy, by the date. I also have a small solar power kit, I am adding more to it but I want a big gas generator too.

That's a good idea to rotate stuff! But you are very schooled in this matter and I'm sure you have all you need.
