If you've listened to any newscast today you know about the high school shooting in Santa Fe Texas. It's only two months ago since the school shooting in Florida and now ten more students and one teacher are shot dead. Ten other people were wounded and some of those are in serious condition. Schools are in serious trouble. According to the latest news more school students have died in school shootings this year than all military personal killed in Afghanistan this year. Students and parents are fearful of shootings happening in their schools and with good reason. The main shooter has been arrested but two others are being held and questioned.

@RubyHawk it seems the kids of today are already considered antagonists to society if they are not properly supervised by their parents.

It's horrible. It's only the last several years that it's happening. We would never thought it possible when my children were in school. It doesn't seem real.

@ridingbet You would think they would but I suppose they would never consider a child would do anything like a shooting.

I heard about that. Tragic. I didn't know the stats between the war and school shootings - that's insane.

@RubyHawk I think it's time to homeschool children. They're safer in their own homes and it's how schooling started anyway.

It's completely insane. I know parents must be fearful of sending their kids to school, but what can they do?

@just4him I doubt that most parents could or would do it. Most parents work and how many children would study without someone to stand over them. I'm afraid we'd have many failures.

Yes, I have witnessed on my Local TV just few minutes back! That is horrible thing going on in US! I strongly condemn it! it is a shameful thing to know that more students in this year alone got killed than the US Soldiers in Afghanistan! Only God can save this country!

@db20747 I believe these kids are so bullied at school that they lose all sense of reason and lose all control. I hope the whole story comes out but I doubt the truth will be told.

@RubyHawk That issue really needs to be addressed to the students!!! I'm writing an article on my blog about how to deal with that!!! And will try to make a pamphlet and book.

It is a sad day when you can't even let your kids go to school and be safe, when is it going to end. I wish there was a way they could put metal detectors at the doors to alarm them when something comes through the door. It would probably be pretty hard to do but they should find a way to keep the students safer. I pray for all those families, kids need stronger consequences growing up to learn the difference between right and wrong.

Metal detectors are the best preventive I can think of. I believe that could be done. Usually kids go in through only a few doors to enter school.

That's a very interesting statistic about the comparison between school deaths and military deaths. This is a sign of the times. "Critical times hard to deal with will be here." (2Tim. 3:1).

I think we all feel we are living in the worst times but looking back in history many times have been worse. Hard as it seems now.

It's scary to send kids off to school today . When mine were growing up we would never have dreamed of kids being killed in school.

But the GOP Congress will DO NOTHING about the situation yet again. We will hear more talk about how teachers should be armed. It is all INSANITY. ALL of these school shootings have happened with AR-15s. NONE of them will support banning their sale or even restricting it.

@db20747 I hope the school has closed for the time being. It's time for schools to be out for the summer anyway and surely j it won't effect students grades.

@RubyHawk not the majority but many!!! If it were me I would go to nite school and search for an alternative school!!! I would not be able to back to that school where a shooting took place!!! Those kids have a ton of courage if they do!!!!!

I heard this on the news. This is so out of hand. They need to make the school's safe. Add metal detector's like the airports use. It is money well spent. Unfortunately, it is a different world out there today and school's are a soft target for mentally unstable persons.

I agree. Every school should have metal detectors and guards at the doors. They should also have classes to prevent bullying. I feel some shootings might be because of bullying at school.

Parents pander to their children too much these days. That's for sure. And teachers aren't allowed to correct students. It could have something to do with school shootings.
